What ammo have CZ 82 owners had the most satisfactory performance from (excluding handloads)?  Wolf and Privi are available at reasonable prices on the internet and I've fired a box of Wolf 94g steel cased ammo thru the 82 I bought last week.  I was a little wet and cold from the rain when I fired it for the first time and my hands were shaking.  The pistol shot about 3" high at 7yds. but after I made adjustments for that the accuracy was acceptable and would probably be much better without the shooters shaking.  I like the feel of the 82 so much that I've ordered another one.      TIA

Good to hear you like your new CZ. I would like to try some Silver Bear FMJ or HP  rounds thru mine. I was having a little trouble finding the HP on the net but found some at:http://www.palmettostatearmory.com/ I haven't ordered from them before but the price seems reasonable. You might check out the Silver Bear and see how it works. Let us know here if you find a round you like.

I've used Silver Bear and Brown Bear FMJ in mine, no issues at all and both are accurate.

I tried  the Silver Bear JHPs, and with that ammo it's totally unreliable.  Many FTFs per mag.

Remember that the Vz.82 (It's proper name) was designed as a military and police sidearm for use with ball ammo only.

For the money it is one of the best buys out there.

Also keep in mind that no 9X18 hollow point will expand anyway, so why bother with them?

Thanks for the info on JHP.  AIM Surplus has Silver Bear in FMJ and HP as well as Privi.    Silver Bear is what I used at the indoor range.  The 82 worked perfectly.  The magazine release was very stiff so I took it out and cleaned/lubed and put it back in and it works much better.  This little pistol is the most ergonomic of any others I've tried.

Mine feeds the silver bear HP's without a problem. Everything else too. Great gun!

I've shot Brown Bear FMJ and Silver Bear JHP and have had no issues with either.

Mine loves Silver Bear JHP.   Zero problems in several 100 rounds.

I also have shot some surplus brown/green cased fmj that came in a greenish box with jiberish printed on the box, worked great.  Might have been russian or prvi ammo, I don't know.

On my recently deceased computer I have a pic of a nicely mushroomed Hornady bullet from my Mak. Will post when I get the drive out and put it in the new temporary system. In my tests I have had 100% reliable expansion with them.

That said, I still would rather shoot ball since penetration with the HP seems to be an issue.......

Hmmm...most of the tests I've seen show that pretty much all of the 9x18 hollowpoints expand. Unfortunately, with the exception of the LVE 115gr. JHP (no longer imported), they were all underpenetrators.

I have 1000 rounds of the 115 JHP Silver Bear.

My Bulgarian Mak eats it up, my Vz.82 hates it..

I have shot Wolf Poly FMJ, Wolf Military Classic FMJ, Silver Bear JHP, and Hornady JHP in my vz.82. Not a hiccup with any of them. Whether the HPs expand or not, I use the Hornady JHP for my carry ammo and all the Russian stuff for range time.

...Brown Bear and Sellier & Belloit. Absolutely "0" problems and great accuracy. They are clean shooting, as well.

As promised, here is what my Makarov spits out consistantly. The problem is penetration. I put one in a rabbit while hunting one day and it didn't come out the other side. I will need to work on the load now that I have a decent chronograph. I would still go with an FMJ when CCin' though....

It is a Hornady XTP 95g.
