I had some failures to eject with my SP-01 today at a 3-gun match. This has never happened before with this gun, and I have around 1k rounds through it. It is bone stock.
The malfunction was that the spent case was still inside the gun (but out of the chamber) when a new round was trying to be chambered. So, the new round was partially out of the magazine, wedged between the feedramp and the spent casing. I also had two stove pipes. The rounds were all reloads I loaded myself (4.5gr Titegroup, 115gr FMJ, 1.150" OAL, CCI SP, FC nickel-plated brass). Two of these occurred while shooting one-handed with my support hand, so maybe it was a case of limp-wristing. I clean the pistol regularly and scrub the breech face and extractor with a toothbrush & CLP. The gun had less than 100 rounds through it today and was clean prior to the match. Thoughts? |

i think its your reloads.
maybe not enoght oomph for your SP01. I think the 2 stove pipes is telling you somthing right there. ive noticed just because you have reloads that work in one gun, doesnt mean they will work in ALL others. sometimes it takes some tweaking to get things right. I reloaded some 125s JHP according to book several months ago. They were too long to fit my CZs chambers. the lead-in (if i have the term correct) is really shallow on the CZs. in my other 9s, the 125s fit just fine or didnt interfere with the lead-in as in my CZs. so now whenever i change bullet styes/brands i always check the reoads by chambering them in any/all of my guns. |

4.5 of Titegroup is pretty light, I have found, for 115s in 9mm.
I've noticed that load barely cycling some of my semiautos. If I didn't keep all my metal frame guns drenched in grease, they'd probably have choked. Try 4.7 or 4.8. I don't have my loads in front of me now but I think I actually load mine at 5.2. |

I was having the same issue with my SP-01 Shadow and after talking to Matt Mink about the problems I was having he suggested re-cutting the ejector. I sent it off to him and he re-cut it so that the first contact point is at the top instead of the bottom. I haven't had a single malfunction since the recut. |

I found some examples of this while searching. I have a spring kit laying around, so I might install a lighter recoil spring since I don't fire 9mm NATO or other hot rounds. |

Here's a link over at CZ forums, helped me with my problems. In the end I think removing and cleaning behind the extractor was most beneficial for me followed by reshaping the ejector. It can be a PITA to get the extractor pin out, but its worth it. The heavy grease they pack them in get backs there and can lead to problems if not addressed in some SP-01s. I believe the pin goes down from the top, but don't quote me on that. Here's the link:

What PF are those loads, and what recoil spring are you running? No idea what PF was, we don't chrono as they aren't sanctioned matches. I put in a lighter spring and the world is right again. I think some of it may have been from limpwristing since I know some (all?) of them happened during one-handed stages. |
