| Just picked one up last nite. Looking forward to getting to the range to try it out. Anyone else here purchase this pistol??? If so what was your impression likes/dislikes???? |
|
w-w, i got a rami 9 a week or so ago. snappy little gun. i've had a few stovepipes with blazer ammo and two instances of the slide locking back with two rounds still in the mag. The stovepipes I put down to still breaking in and I suspect the slide locking back with rounds still in the mag are due to me hitting the slide stop. |

I've got a PO1 on order. I looked at an example locally (expensive) and ordered one through a FFL friend (slightly less expensive). These looke to be great pistolas and I'm looking forward to putting it through the paces. Did you all read the torture test info from the Czech National Police on these. Pretty rough treatment sounds like. I've also been looking at a summer special type holster from High Noon Holsters called the Down Under. I've typically ordered holsters for my pistols from Milt Sparks, but I'm growing tired of the 8-12 week waits. Hight Noon has a 8-12 day wait and they have been recieving good reviews - plus they list the PO1 as an available model. |

P-01 came in on Thursday. What a great pistol! I am even more pleased with this pistol than I thought I would be. My wife and I took it out on friday and put a couple hundred rounds through it without a hitch. My holster is supposed to come in today (Monday) and I'll try to get some pics. I'm pretty interested to see what the quality is with the High Noon holsters, their 5 day wait sure beats the going on 9 week wait for a summer special I have on order for another pistol from Milt Sparks. I'll try to get some pictures of both if the holster gets in today and send them to you W-W. Thanks! |
You did check w/ Brownells to see If they had the Milt Sparks SS in stock??? They carry a few all the time. (and if you're a C&R you get it at dealers price). |

My CZ P-01 has now had 400 rounds through it without an FTE or FTF. I recieved my High Noon Down Under Holster last Wednesday and have carried it daily since. My impression of the holster is that it is a good quality holster but does not appear to be as good a grade of leather as the Sparks. I'm saying this based on some rather unscientific observations though. The leather does not feel quite as rigid and dense as the Summer Special and its outward texture is quite a bit rougher. The leather used is possibly not as tightly grained as my SS. At this early of a stage, I dont want to do the holster a disservice as it may carry a million miles without any problems. The Down Under does have a retention screw that appears at this point to be unecessary. As the holster wears and forms to the pistol, the retention screw may need to be tightend. The holster does have removeable retention straps for different belt widths, which in my case will probably never be removed. This does not increase the width of the pistol/holster combination to the degree that it becomes uncomfortable. As far as the combination goes, the pistol and holster have made for a very comfortable carry in the short time I've had them. I got a chance to handle a buddy of mine's CZ75 single action and it was a heavy pistol. The P-01 however is very light in comparison, even with its full 10rnd mag. The Down Under holds the pistol very securely and at a slight forward cant slightly above the beltline. I dont have a large cross section which allows the wider grip of the double stack pistol to profile itself through a shirt when leaning at certain angles. This, of course would not be unique to this pistol. Overall at this point I'm very pleased with both pistol and holster. The CZ pistols are underrated in my opinion and are a great deal for the $$$ when compared to other "brand name" pistols filling the same niche. The Down Under holster will be put to the daily carry test to determine its long term durability, but is comfortable now and appears to be of good quality. Less than a week delivery time is hard to beat for an odd-ball pistol (everything not 1911 to me). It was priced about the same as a Summer Special. Good luck and I think anyone would be well served with this combination of holster and pistol. If anyone wants some pics I can e-mail them, or with W-W's help they might be put into this post at a later time. Thanks! I might add that the standard rubber grips add to the profiling of the pistol by grabbing my shirt with each movement I take. I'm probably going to look into some of the custom wood grips offered by Hakken Pek for a less gripping grip. |

I just got one for fathers day. err well kinda, i dont have kids, but we have 2 dogs, and i KNOW they would want to get me this. Im going to the range with it this morning. Just FYI, the CZ40P .40 cal mags work in this and hold 14 9mm rounds. I ve also read all compact CZ .40 cal mags will work, and all .40 cal CZ full size framed mags will also work, but stick out 1/2 inch out the bottom. Looks like a sweet pic. I bought this based on the 2-3 reviews I saw on this pistol. Looks like the Czech Police put this weapom through the wringer. Supposed to have a service life of 30,000 rounds of ball ammo. or 15000 of +p |
| I just got a CZ 75D compact PCR which to my understanding was pedecessor to the P-01. It seems CZ designed it for the Czech police but for some reason or another CZ designed the P-01. I am not sure what the differences are between the P-01 and the PCR are except for the attachment rail on front. I am impressed with the PCR eventhough I have only put about 100 rounds through it. |
|
one of the main fifferences is the PCR has a loaded chamber indicator. also here is a response from the CZ board pcr vs p01
|
| Have you all done any switching of recoil springs in any of your CZ's? The reason I ask is that over on the CZ-Forum it is highly recommended that you switch out the recoil spring to a stronger spring. The PCR comes with a #16 spring from the factory. I am trying to decide if this is something that needs to be done or if it is one of those that gets started and takes on a life of it's own. I have shot 100 rounds through it using 124 gr. with the #16 spring without a problem. I am concerned because this is going to be my "go" gun for concealed carry and if I need to switch out the spring I'd like to do it and not have any surprises. |

Heads up: Supposedly CZ will introduce what's being called the P-04 later this year. The P-04 will be pretty much the same gun as the P-01, but in .40 caliber. That will be my next CZ purchase. I've been toying with picking up one of the CZ 40Ps, but I think I'll wait for the P-04. Decisons, decisions, decisions. -- Mike |
according to rumor control, Carl at [email protected] may be making a .357SIG barrel. drop him an email. |

i found a guy in IL, that i am getting my 40-P from. 305 SHIPPED after i pay my FFL fee of 20.00 it will be 325.00 total. which is right about what id pay if i drove 160 mioles to J&G Sales to buy one local with tax. Let me know if your interested. He is legit, i verified his FFL through ATF online. FFL ONLINE |

Came across one at the Dayton show for $325, but I didn't buy. This is the second time I thought I was close to putting money down, but didn't. With it in hand, I remembered the things I didn't like: they're all basicaly cosmetic issues. As for the IL ffl for selling them for 305, that wouldn't be sgtnato would it? Guess I'll just have to wait on the P-04. -- Mike |
Yes thats SGTNATO. I sent you an email with his info.
|
If you already sent it, I *think* MailWasher may have misidentified it and deleted it. As to the 40-P, I'm going to hold off for a while. I like the P-01 and it is my carry gun, along with the CZ 2075, but the P-04 just doesn't move me at the moment. I have the sgtNato info as he does/did post over on the CZ Forum. I appreciate you sending it, too. -- Mike |
| I love my P-01. I had a problem with it out of the box where the decocker wouldn't move enough to decock the gun. I had to dremel a burr off apiece of the internals to get it to move freely. Now it works flawlessly and is now my favorite with my XD taking 2nd place. |
Like EX11B states, the compact .40s work well in the P-01. I've picked up 4 from Natchez Shooters Supply. They were ProMags (stock number ZMMAG12 for the CZ75 COMPACT 40 S&W) and they were only $11.42 each. These have function flawlessly for me and quite a few other people on the CZ Forum. (Natchez is currently out at the moment.) I had earlier ordered 2 of the exact same mags from Midwest Tactical, and they have functioned just as well....but MT is about $6.50 more per mag, IIRC. -- Mike |
Just as a useful source of info... p201.ezboard.com/fczechpistols82792frm25.showMessage?topicID=113.topic Nice folks at the CZ community put together a nice list of all the magazine compatibilites. |
