I have a Springfield P9 9mm that I love, but it is my only experience with the CZ line.

I am thinking of having a customized cz made up by Angus, but was wondering... should I just start with a CZ75B and throw a new trigger and sights in?

What platform would you guys start with?  What about the Witness line?

Thoughts?

Look for a CZ-75 pre-B.

Or a CZ-85 Combat if you want a new gun.

My pre-B was $350 NIB, bought it last year, had the trigger worked on by Bill Springfield, it is an amazing pistol.

It looks like you want  the 75 Single Action...

I bought one, 75B Single Action, about 3 moths ago and it is just about my favorite pistol. I had it custom done by Matt Mink and it is freaking awesome. The mods I had done were: New Trigger, Trigger Job 2# pull, Competition Rear and Fiber Optic Front Sight and Competition Hammer installed. I also put on the red aluminum grips for it and it is a great shooter, couldn't be happier. I would pick one up again in a heart beat if I could afford it.

ETA: Just stock, out of the box, it was a good shooter and the trigger was pretty good. A little gritty but still good and I am sure that it would've broken in nicely but I wanted it custom so I went ahead and sent it in to Matt. You might want to try it stock first to see if you even want anything done to it. It's all about personal preference but I think you'll like it either way.

CZ = Cadillac

Witness = Chevy

You get what you pay for, usually. CZ's are a much more refined gun, IMO.

Buy a SP01 and have it converted to SA. The extra weight makes it an excellent target gun. Forget about the Witness line. They are good quality but not near as nice as a CZ.

I haven't played with one of these... is this gun equiped with a safety to carry cocked and locked, or is it equiped with a decocker?

How about this one?

Can the decocker version be carried cocked and locked?

The first one on your list, 75B SA, can be carried cocked and locked as it has a safety and is not equipped with a decocker.

The second one, 75B SP-01 Tactical, has a decocker and no safety. It cannot be carried cocked and locked.

I would buy the first one, 75B SA, from Automatic Accuracy. That is Matt Mink's custom shop's name and he will treat you well.

Start with a CZ 75B.  Season to taste.
