| Is it possible to swap the barrel on these pistols and put in one chanbered in .380 ACP? I only ask because it's easier to get .380 around here than it is 9x18 mak. |

I also wonder if you could convert to 9x19. 9x19 is a little stout for blowback action, so I would say no. To the origional question, you would have to obtain a CZ83 barrel in .380, and then figure out how to press out the barrel and press in the new one. It is certainly doable, but might be a more trouble than it's worth. |

You might be able to change it to .380 by sending it to CZ or by aquiring a barrel from them. It's not a home job unless you have a way to press the old one out and put the new one in.
No way for 9x19. 9x18 ammo is widely available online and much cheaper than .380. |

As for 9x19, the case head size isn't an issue, it's the length and the pressure. A longer 9x19 will not physically fit in a '82 no matter what you do.
A barrel change is all that would be required to go to .380, but it may require special tooling to get the old one out and the new one in. The .015" difference in case head size is irrelevant. Still, I see very little justification to go from 9x18 to .380. Yeah, you may not be able to buy 9x18 at Wal-Mart, but it's still quite common and it's much cheaper than .380. |
| Hey, thanks for all of the info folks. I was only asking about .380 because I know that I can pick it up locally, where as 9x18 mak would have to be ordered online. Ordering online isn't a big deal, but it's nice to be able to just walk into the local sporting goods store and pick up some ammo. Thanks again folks! |

I shot mine for the first time today, and I have the cut on the web of my hand to prove it. Not bad for a $200 pistol. Not especially accurate, the trigger is spongy, but still a lot of fun. The trigger can be a little snappy like most Combloc pistols, but when you get used to it, the gun has a lot of accuracy potential. You will like it more as you shoot it more. I had the same respose to my first outing with it, now it is one of my favorites. |

I used to think the trigger on my CZ 83 was kind of spongy also, it seems different than others. But once I got used to it, I liked it. It seems like there's little to no stack, just take up, and break. When you get used to it, it's actually a very smooth trigger. |
