I shot a buddy's P07 Duty a few days ago and bought a Gen 2 the next day.

What do I need to know/expect? And what upgrade path do I need to follow?

I think they are an awesome pistol, they made me switch platforms completely. I currently have a P-07 and a P-09. I will be getting other CZ models in the future also. I think you should do the polishing described in this post  http://www.czfirearms.us/index.php?topic=66147.0

If you want it even better install these parts  https://cajungunworks.com/product/p-07-p-09-pro-grade-package/
There are several videos on the same site and youtube that will help you do it yourself. I did the polishing and the parts install on both of mine and it made them amazing IMO. After that you can start playing with lighter hammer and recoil springs if you want to.

ETA: if you're around the 4 corners area we could meet up for you check them out sometime.

Honestly, Shoot it for awhile. Mine has around 500 rounds through it.

Smooth as butter trigger. If you feel like it pull the sear and hammer  and polish the contact areas with Flitz to smooth it out faster.

The only upgrade I could see would be a hi viz front sight.

Trigger will kind of be rough and stagey at first.  The more you shoot it the smoother it will get for the first 500 or so rounds.  Once you have some miles through it you should look at Cajun Gun Works if you want to do some upgrades to it and improve the trigger.  CGW is a great company to deal with I can personally vouch for that great response time for questions and just great peoples to deal with.

Holsters are another thing Glock holsters actually will work with the P-07/9 for the most part so if you already have a few Glock holsters try them see if they fit.

There are only two things that you need to do.

One, find the trigger bar spring (it's long and goes down the passenger side of the frame) and bend that sucker down to relieve tension on the trigger bar. That alone will drastically reduce the DA pull.

Second, replace the firing pin retainer pin with the better one from Cajun Gun Works. The OEM one can deform and break if you dry fire too much.

I did the reduced power TRS and the SRS kit in mine, but the gun was pretty good without it.

Perhaps some better sights.  Really, just go out and shoot the darn thing.  I have thousands through my P-07 and it is stock.  Two kids have used it when they started competition, and I have used it in a few matches for giggles.

If you choose to do some upgrades, CGW is the place to get the parts to do that.

How simple is it to change front sight? Been wanting to do it.

First impressions...unfired as of yet.

Fit and finish is excellent, extremely tight and comfortable. Mine came with the safety installed not the decocker which I thought was opposite. There's a ton of stacking in the SA pull, but the break is consistent. I'm expecting things to smooth out as I put rounds through it.

All in all, unfired it still seems to be a excellent value and if it shapes up to be remotely competitive with my friends first gen I will be extremely happy with the gun.

She is a real beaut.

Are you sure you meant there's tons of stacking in the SA pull?

Yup. It's got a long, building, stuttering slack take up before the break. I was pretty surprised. Guess that's unusual?

ETA: long for a SA pull that is in my limited experience with hammer fired pistols. Wish I could upload short videos.

That is the camming of the hammer you feel. Watch what the hammer does when dry firing in SA. I moves backwards before it drops. That is compressing the hammer spring and adding weight to the pull.

On my P-07 I swapped in my CGW hammer "borrowed" from my P-09, polished everything, reduced trigger bar spring tension, and installed a CGW reduced power trigger spring and a 15 pound hammer spring. I was surprised at how nice I was able to get the trigger with a few lower cost upgrades. I eventually went full pro package because of the excessively long SA reset.

There is a little creep in my SA trigger on my P-07, but no stacking. Maybe we shoot differently. I only allow the trigger to go forward to the rest after each shot. As soon as I feel the reset click, my finer stops moving forward and I start to pull back on the next shot. The reset is also quite short. For me, other than the little creep after the reset, it is a pretty decent factory SA trigger.

I don't know how else to describe it but it's after the reset, stuttering creep with building resistance. I'm sure it will smooth out over time, already has a little with just some dry firing. I love the pistol and I was lucky enough to get bonus Tritium sights. Man it feels good in the hand too.

Looks like you have the safety installed. What do you think of it?

The triggers have all kinds of roughness and need to be broken in a bit.

Is it possible what the OP is feeling is the FPB?  That is generally the source of any grittyness or roughness in the S/A trigger on a "B" type CZ.

As for advice, the best I received was sit down with the gun (or just the frame) and thumb the safety on and off over and over and over.  After 500-1000 times it starts to smooth out.

I dig the safety, I may actually leave it installed since it's much easier to engage/disengage than I anticipated. I wanted the decocker but it came with the safety installed out of the box, I'm going to end up trying both and practicing to see which I prefer.

So I still haven't been able to hit the range yet, but I have dry fired it few hundred times and it has tremendously cleaned up. There's still some take up before it hits the wall in SA but I'm guessing that will somewhat diminish as well. I should've kept my mouth shut until I had some time with it but I was so excited to just talk about the damn thing.

Thanks for all the comments gentlemen.

There's a more noticeable break in than most triggers

Screw the break in and just do the polishing guide. While you are at it a 15# CGW spring and extended fp and spring from CGW. MASSIVE difference for not much money at all.

I also bought a P-07 today and am getting ready to buy magazines which begs a question. Does the P-07 accept the P-07 duty 16 round magazines? do they fit flush?

Shot a P-07 at a rental range last week and was thinking about picking one up also.

Can't see me doing it with mags in the $40-$45 range. Really? I have Caspian mags that were not that much.

Gun was going to replace one of my G19s but having to put out another $160 for mags kind of sours it.

If you have any Sig 226/228/229 (not the 229-1 mags) mags, they work in the P07 as well. They just won't lock the slide back. I've fired thousands of rounds thru my P07 with Sig mags.

I did the full Cajun gun works trigger job on my P-09
It's wonderful

https://cajungunworks.com/product/p-07-p-09-pro-grade-package/

I replaced the front sight with a Dawson on the P-07, bought a SHTF hybrid holster and started carrying it.

I was gonna trigger job it too, but just ended up leaving it, for now.
I like it a lot

I CCW mine cocked & Locked, like the old 1911

Well I'm a 120 rounds into the P-07 and I am starting to get the hang of the trigger in this, it shows some good accuracy potential.

Keep shooting it the trigger smoothes out around 500 rounds and really changed from how it comes out of the box.

Might also want to get it off the burner the plastic will melt

I got the tip from the CZ board but go spend a couple bucks and grab a few #83 O rings from the hardware store.  They wedge perfectly in the hammer slot and prevent full impact to the firing pin and prevent damage to the firing pin retaining pin from dry firing.

I also recently did the full package upgrade from CJW to my P07.  Un-freeking believable.

I'm over 500 rounds in now and it's broken in considerably. I still get some weirdness in the trigger but when shooting I don't really notice, just when I'm dry firing. I'd love to do the CGW trigger upgrade kit but that's more than half what I paid for the whole damn pistol! I'm just gonna keep shooting it for now. I do love it.
