Went by academy this morning prior to my range trip to pick up some clay pigeons as I had a $50 gift card.

I pass by the pistol case and happen to see what I think is a CZ75b.

Well it wasn't, but one of the Canik L-120 clones. Curiosity got the best of me so I asked to take a look at it.

I've been wanting a 75 for range / general purpose 9mm as I have my CCW and HD pistols already (G17 and G23).

After inspecting it, I decided what the hell, it will make a good range / woods gun and with gift card was only $332 OTD.

Off to the range I went (broke it down and cleaned / lubed before shooting)..... This thing can shoot! I shot 250 rounds of nasty wolf 115 grain through it and it ran like a top, accuracy is nice as well. The only thing is that it shoots a tad to the left (had several other proficient shooters shoot it as well). For the life of me I can't get the rear sight to drift at all to the right, so I'll have to figure something out.

So... will this accept cz75 grips? How about mags? I'd love to pick up a couple more mags and toss some wood checkered grips on there as the plastic ones suck.

CZ grips will work, but you will have to enlarge the hole for the grip screws. It won't take much. Also CZ mags work great in both of my Turk CZ clones.

On my C-100 the slide appeared to be coated with the sights installed so drifting it the first time was a pita because it was essentially painted in place.  CZ mags work fine.  Factory CZ grips and VZ grips fit my C-100 just fine without any modification.

The Caniks are an excellent value.  Great pistols for the $.

Wasn't there a recall on some Caniks?

Got a canik stingray for Christmas that I still have to shoot.  I bought a tri star T100 a few months back. It shoots great. Not one problem in about 400 rounds.  Even fired some wolf/Tula and it worked perfect.  I wanted a 2nd before the price goes up.

Not to my knowledge. The Grand Power and Caracal have had recent recalls.

So have Springfield and S&W.

You may be able to get some Canik mags, (Mecgars) through Tristar in KC. I have 3 of Caniks, a T100 and 2 Stingrays. Both use the compact mags, yours uses full size, iirc. The Canik mags are made by Mecgars so they are very good quality. I also believe the Caniks to be a great buy and very well made pistols. Get some before everyone finds out how good they are.

That's the same thing people used to say about CZs.

Back in the day when I got my first CZ I had heard that saying.  I have stuck with the real CZ's for years now and have never been disappointed.  However....the Turks are coming up with better and better stuff. I just got a new Mossburg SA-20 Tactical shotgun that is made in Turkey and its a very nicely made piece.
