Anyone else here shoot one of these? I have one from about 1996, I had 1 from 1992 but it got stolen.
Ins paid off and I bought another. A fun pistol but it is picky on ammo. |

I shoot my older model B quite a bit. Magazines were redesigned last winter and I was able to get three of them. They work better than the originals and don't require the long tab on the barrel hood to feed reliably.
New Coonans are rolling off the line now, http://www.coonaninc.com/ There's also a Coonan discussion board. http://members.boardhost.com/dajowi/index.html?1250530901 |

I have one of the older models and it has been very reliable.
I picked up one of the new models and they are fantastic... Included with the new model is a second recoil spring, change the spring and you can shoot .38 specials. I really like my new coonan and the trigger in phenomenal.... |

| I was wondering if you would strip your pistol down, take the barrel and slip in a cartridge and photograph the breach area? I just have never seen a photo of how the chamber supports the cartridge case in a Coonan. I'm interested because if I get a Coonan, I will be doing some handloading. Thanks for your time and indulgence. |

Got mine recently. This is the third thread I've posted this pic in. I can't wait to take it to the range. http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k101/usncpa/005.jpg Suppo, were are you at in Georgia? I am in Blairsville. |

Well, after nearly a year of having the pistol, I fired it for the first time today. I only got to fire 21 rounds due to time (I spent most of the afternoon introducing the family members to AR-15s).
In two instances the slide did not go into battery after the preceding shot. However, only minimal effort was needed to get the slide to go all the way forward. The odd thing though, was that I inadvertently engaged the thumb safety after a couple of the shots. I don't know if it was due to the recoil or my grip or what. It's definitely a big pistol. |

I ride the safeties on my 1911's. Give it a go. It is only a bad habit if one also likes to shoot Sig Sauers (like I do). It causes the slide to close on an empty chamber in the Sigs. You know, I never thought about before, but I do the same on my 1911. I'll try that on the Coonan next time. |
