Okay I'm a little confused by your post. Is the slide locked up in the rear position or forward?

in the rear position.

the slide is locked back. and the chamber is empty. i put a mag in..drop the slide release and its harder to break the release..like its hung up or something. but the round still chambers..

ok im gona take a stab in the dart and trying to understand WTF you are saying.

option A: the slide release is stiffer than it was

option B: racking the slide with the chambered round is stiffer than it was

option C: you're drunk

I have found the slide release on both of my Kahrs is much stiffer than other guns (owned my PM9 and P9 for about 3 years and they are 100%)

I use the slide release on my Glocks and other guns but practice using the sling shot method on my Kahrs.

I wouldnt worry it may loosen with time

I believe they are designed this way.  You aren't supposed to be able to use the slide release on an empty mag.  Either add bullets, or drop the mag.  I made myself look like a 98 pound weakling at Cabela's trying to get it to go with an empty mag.

The slide release will be harder to operate when there is an empty mag as opposed to a full mag or none at all.

If the release is really too hard you need to check the slide release spring to make sure it's not bent or in the wrong position.

My pm9 slide release is significantly harder to operate than other pistols I have or have shot (i.e. Sig, Glock, HK, FN, Bersa).  The more I used the slide release the easier it got, or I just got use to it.  The slide release is designed to be hard to operate on an empty magazine (pg. 15  in the users manual).

I'm guessing the slide release spring was mangled somehow.

here is what u problaby did.  that little spring on the left side by the slide release lever.  u had it under the slide release lever notch instead of over it.  Look at your slide release lever closely next time and you willsee that notch up front with a slight tiny groove in  it.  that is where that springy thing sits.  If properly installed right, that springy thing is always wanting to pull that slide lever  DOWNWARD.

An empty magaine in the gun is always harder to use the slide lock lever to release the slide, as now you ar ealso pushing down onthe magazine follower to.  With a loaded magazine, that slide lock lever is now not pushing any part of the follower or touching it even.  there fore easier to release. Kahr slide release levers work like all autos..
