I normally use 9mm 124gr HPs in my PM9 but decided to try 147s for fun. I has some 147gr HST and loaded them into my mag. It was a very tight fit and seemed to scrape at times when loading rounds. Also, when I closed the slide on a full mag the rounds seemed to get hung up on the Feed ramp. This only happened when I didn't use the slide release and instead used my hand and eased it closed kind of.

Does anyone else have the same findings with 147gr HPs and do they function fine in your SUbcompact Kahrs??

I recently found a couple hundred rounds of 147gr Black Talons I had stuck in the back of my cabinet years ago. Went through 50 rds in my MK9 without a hitch.

Did you try shooting them? Just because they work in one doesn't necessarily mean they will work in another. As far as loading goes, I'm not surprised they are getting hung up when you ease the slide closed because that's not how the weapon is supposed to be operated.  Use the slide release, or if your kahr doesn't mind slingshot it.

I've run 147gr Speer Gold Dots through my MK9 without a problem. FYI, I did get a couple of FTE's by slingshoting the slide. My MK9 was kind of inconsistent. Somtimes it would FTE the next round after a slingshot and others it would work just fine.

Slingshot works just fine. I was concerned becasue with my HK I could ease the slide closed as slow as possible and they still would chamber.

But no I haven't shot them yet.

until you shoot them, which IMO they will do fine,  but if  your just messing around with them and have no intentions of using 147 grain, then why worry about it. You stated it worked fine when you used the slide stop release to load that first round, so if that is the case, then you are not yet properly racking the slide correctly. Kahrs are very hard to hand rack, can't compare it to a HK or a Glock, every gun maker has his own way of doing things. Karh recommends using the slide lock release to load that first round.  I  have thousands of rounds out of my PM9 and to this day the gun is still tight as hell and if I just ride that slide back alittle during a manual reload it will ftf.  Not the guns fault IMO.

I run 147Gr. HST's in mine and never had a problem.

One particular load from one particular manufacture is not an indication in any way of how most 147gr loads will function in your gun.
Don't use that load.  Problem solved.

When I used the 147 gr. Remington in my PM9, it would shoot okay, but I could never jack an unfired round out of the chamber.  I've becoma a fan of the light/fast school of thought anyway, and use 115 gr. Gold Dots exclusively now.
