I just picked up a CW45 today that I plan to make my daily carry gun. My questions are what kind of break in period does it need before I start to carry with it and what type of ammo do you recomend I carry in it.
Thanks J.P. |

My questions are what kind of break in period does it need before I start to carry with it and what type of ammo do you recomend I carry in it. Thanks J.P. lube the rails up good with a good gun grease and around the barrel lug, then with no magazine, in the weapon, just sit there and rack the slide about 500 times as fast as you can, this is almost like shooting but with no boom and expense. Then just go out and shoot it like you stole it. Use the slide release to load for at least 200 rounds. Don't try to rack the slide until it is broken in and you can feel confident that you are indeed racking it right. Kahrs are very tight. Jus tuse the slide lever release and you will be ok. Shoot fmj ball ammo for break in, leave the defense stuff along until the gun is running perfect, then find the defense round you want to carry and test it out. the more you shoot ur kahr the better everything will get. The trigger is looong (1/2" travel) but extremely smooth, You will have to get used to it but that is a no brainer either. They are just super handguns through and through. |

I thought wow, what a great price. I am a 9mm fan but as I walked through the show more and more I thought about that cw45 for that price. I followed Porsche's advise on breaking in my Kahr MK9 and it works great not one hick-up, can't say that about my Kimber Warrior. Kahr make a fine weapon. 1der Those damn MK's seem to work anyhow even with no prep done to them. Just a super handgun. I have a good friend who was govoner Jed Bushs bodyguard for 4 years and his backup gun was the kahr MK40. he loved it and it went bang every time to.. |
