I will soon buy a Kahr. My question is what one? I have been looking at the main differences one is that the CW Series have conventional rifling, instead of match grade polygonal rifling.what do you like better?I'm just look for your input. I will spend the money if i need to but do I need to is the question? The CW Series cannot be retrofitted with night sights because the slide does not have a front dovetail cut. What do you think about night sights? Thank you for your time and info..

I got a CW9, mainly b/c of the big $$$ difference.
The difference are basically un-noticable, with the exception of the nights sights.

The who cares -
The CW has a MIM slide release lever instead of machined- big deal, you cant tell the difference.
The CW slide markings are rollmarked instead of etched- big deal, it looks fine.
The CW barrel is conventional rifling instead of match grade- big deal, it's a 3.5 inch barrel, your not gonna be attempting headshots a 100yds.

The neutral -
The CW comes with 1 magazine, and additional mags run ~$40

The not so bad but not good either-
You cant install night sights on the CW.

Here's what I would do-
Buy the CW. Buy night sights from Brownells (with a C&R license discount they are a very very good price, so hopefully either you or a friend has one). Have a gunsmith dovetail the front sight and install the new Brownells night sights.

That will still be cheaper than buying one of the Kahrs that either have night sights on them already or are cut to accept them, and you will save your money from being spent on things you don't need, like the machined slide release lever, etched markings or match barrel.

On further inspection, I'm not sure what I thought of above is do-able. The front sight is pinned in place on both the front and back, making there be two holes in the slide, not one as I thought it was. So the holes would have to be filled in and then the dovetail cut. Still should be do-able by a good gunsmith, but probably cost prohibitive.

kinda hard to believe that somelike MMC is not making a front site replacement for the CW series kahrs, Doesn't sound like a big deal to comeup with a front site replacement to match those two fron holes--maybe it is...

CW is a nice handgun,  my preferenece is still the p9 and 1st choice for carry is the pm9, ave um both, love um both, pm9 with me 24/7

A friend of mine just bought a CW9, so yesterday we took my P9 and PM9 out for a comparison.

All three are fine, but if I could only keep one, it'd be my P9.

As has already been said, you'll probably never know the difference in rifling.

And while I have night sights on mine, they're probably unnecessary. Defensive handguns of this nature are "knife repellent", usually used at very close ranges and tucked into your body, not carefully aimed with your arms extended.

agree on the defensive handgun part and about sites.  But for me I truly love to shoot my pm9 (9500 flawless rounds) and my k9 (about 2000 flawless rounds) so sites are important  to me. I want them and I am presently getting the xs 24/7 big dot nite sites on my fightin gun, my pm9 and MMC adjustable sites on my k9 range and glove box gun. Would be nice if kahr offered as an option the MMC adjustable trituim nite sties on their models, so one would not have to go about all trouble that iam having to do to get them on my kahrs.  oh well, such is life.

You will notice a difference in accuracy.

I sell Kahrs and own a P45 as my primary carry gun.

The P's are rediculously accurate. The CW's, not so much. In a defensive situation, either will fit the bill. But the P's are worth the extra money.

My $.02

Depends on the price difference (I haven't priced them recently) and whether you want night sights. I have a PM9 that I like (now that it works right) and I have two steel Kahrs, a K9 Elite and E9. The E9 is a econo model and is just as good as the Elite except for the trigger. If you ever anticipate wanting to add a night sight go ahead and get the P9, by the time you cut the dovetail and fill the holes you will have the price difference most likely. Also you will have an easier time finding form fitting holsters for the P9, the CW9 have a blockier slide that will effect holster fit.

lOVEMY PM9 AND ALSO MY K9,   They both go bang every time and are far more accurate than I will ever be.  When I finally get in my MMC tactical fully adjustable rear site, I intend to do something about my accuracy issues to.  Just a super nice line of handguns in my opinion.  Now I do realize that every once in awhile we are seeing a disgruntled owner, and that is perfectly understandable. They don't all come out of the box 100%, seems some of the other major mfg-ers can give new issues to. BUT by far and away,  these Kahrs are good to go out of the box, if you give them the break in necessary and lube well, and the just shoot it like u stole it.

I bought a CW-9 as a home defense gun because my woman has small hands.  She doesn't practice a lot so the simple operation of the Kahr made it perfect. The advantages of the other series are lost on a low use home defense gun.

maybe i'm crazy but i fondled both today, and the trigger on the CW9 felt lighter and smoother.
