Shot my new CM9 with 3 different ammo for the 200 round "break-in".

The last round of the 6 round mag failed to completely feed every time (no matter how many rounds were inititally in the mag.  it would always feed it and chamber would look closed but not fire.  A slight slide rack and it would then fire

I'm thinking mag problem and not a gun problem?

Plan to contact KAHR but wanted to see what yall think.

Nice. I just picked up a CM9 and am still on the fence about keeping it after reading the thread where firing +p ammo was jacking up the barrel hood.

The mag that came with the gun - the one mag - drops free when the slide is locked open. I picked up a couple of 6 round 9mm mags on the EE a couple of weeks ago and they don't drop free. I wonder why that is. If anything, they would be relegated to range mags only and I would buy a brand new one for carry. Kahr's magazines aren't cheap, though.

None of mine dropped free when new. I gently squeezed them in a vice and now they all drop and feed reliably. I know you shouldn't have to but it's a pretty common fix for those mags.

Wow. That's nuts. Who would ever think such a thing. It's peculiar because the magazine that came with the gun drops free. In fact, it releases quite well almost shooting out like my M&P mags do.

I cleaned the other two pretty good inside and out. One of them drops free now but the other still sticks. The one that drops free now doesn't really shoot out like the new factory mag that came with the gun; it just kind of falls out. I may contact Kahr and see if they'll swap them out for me.

I could swear that this was a complaint with the PM9 when it debuted. IIRC, people reported LIGHTLY filing some ribs or something in the mag well to get the mags to drop free.

How does that explain why two of my mags drop free and one doesn't? It seems to me that the issue is with the magazine since those are the variable in the equation. The crazy thing, too, is that the two mags initially didn't drop free (I purchased them on the EE so they were probably older), but after disassembly and a good cleaning, now one does drop free.

I think I'll end up buying a new factory may here soon and see what it does. I expect a new factory mag will drop free.

FWIW, don't squeeze, pinch, bend or otherwise attempt to change your mags.
When new, only two out of five mags would drop free from my PM9. As I used it, they dropped even better.
I've never seen the inside of the CM9 mag well but, it should be the same as the PM9. There are four ribs running vertically inside of the well.
Some of the more impatient owners have actually decreased the size of these ribs! This practice is not recommended by Kahr the last time I asked a CS rep about doing it.
With use, your mags will eventually "wear" or "smooth out" the ribs to where your mags will drop free.
All of my mags drop free from my PM9 and I modified NOTHING.
There are way too many inexperienced Kahr owners recommending all sorts of modifications.
