How much do you think it de-values the handgun if it has an "idiot scratch" in the polymer frame?

This isn't a $1000 Colt we are talking about. I would think it would devalue it very little unless it was excessive.

You make a good point.
Its primary role is as a carry. I guess it's normal to expect blem's, scratches, and signs of wear 'n tear.
You get use to thinkin' about the safe queens, and forget to let some things go/not worry about small stuff.

Meh... Carry guns get wear.
My CM9 is less than a year old and show a bit of holster wear on the slide and frame near the trigger. No big worries as long as it stays reliable.
