I was looking at an XD9 Sub Compact at a local gun show and I'm thinking about buying one. Has anyone heard of problems with this model or the company?
The people at the gun show told me "it's double action only". If I rack the slide I can press the trigger only once. To me this is not double action. The local gun shop says "it's just like a Glock". I never shot a Glock so I'm confused as to what type of action it has. I own a Colt Mark IV series 70 45 cal and a Ruger 22 auto. Both are single action.
I would like to use the XD9 as a carry gun and want to know more about the safety system. If there is a round in the chamber is it cocked and locked? Thanks in advance.

I have one and love it. It's technicially a striker fired single action trigger, but functionally it's pretty much the same as Glock's 'safe action'. Start to pull it back, and you get a reasonable amount of travel, then you hit a sweet spot right before it breaks. In my opinion, it offers the safety of a double action but lets you take up the slack and then squeeze the round off almost like a traditional single action.

The only legit complaint I've heard about the XD is that the finish isn't as durable as it could be.

I have around 3000 rounds through mine, without any problems to date. Springfield Arms offers great warranty and customer service. I bought a lemon 1911 from them a bit ago, and they really went all out to make things right.

I just bought one today. I was hoping to get a 40 but they are in short supply in my area. I settled for the 9 in black. Love it so far.

Dude, if you find one in .40, can I have your 9mm?

Pretty please?

Yep, I've got one too.

I'am a very happy camper, have about six hundred round through and NO failures. I need to put night sights on it ASAP.

It's striker fired, single action with a long pull...

The trigger safety is redundant, as the XD has it's other automatic safety in the RIGHT place (back of the grip)...

Eliminate the long pull & the trigger safety, add a manual, and you'd have a pretty good gun....
