I just read that Springfield will not have the Brazilian stamp on its slides for 2005, is this true?

You mean the "F.I.Brasil" on the frame?
My '90 series SA never had it, some later ones did.

What kind of problems? I just put a SA GI .45 on layaway.

I read that Springfield will be doing the "final machining" in-house for 2005, so the Brazil stamp can go bye-bye.

Actually it is because Springfield finished the gun.  The frame and slide are the ONLY good parts on a Springfield these days.

Picked up my WWII GI .45 yesterday. It's army kote green. I took everything apart, cleaned and lubed. The gun is very tight and nicely finished. Hopefully I will get to shoot it this a.m. I think it was a very good deal for the gun. I now want to get a milspec loaded parkerized one . These things are almost as addicting as AR's. The only brazilian stamping I could find was on the underside of the frame. I can't find one on the slide.

Thats good news, I've never been a fan of the Brazilian stamp.

Since the work will be done in the US in 2005 I bet the prices will go up a bit. I ordered another GI yesterday to beat any price increases and I wanted a parked one to match my OD.

Yeah, especially on the WW2 mil-spec model. Says that it is identicle to the one carried in WW2...I don't think GI .45s were stamped "Brazil". Makes me sick.

Thing is, Imbel does a better job making the gun...

My SA "Loaded" 1911A1 has the Imbel Brazil mark on the bottom of the forward section of the frame. Under the grips I found a 2002 production mark.
