Last Sat. I shot my XD45 for the first time.  I was using Wolf  FMJ, Aguila FMJ and Speer JHP.  The first four shots were with the wolf and they went into a small hole about the size of a silver dollar at about 8yds.  From then on all my shots were low and wide spread.  I shot handguns for aeveral years including Glock, Beretta and SIG and considered myself a pretty fair shot.   When I got my renewal CHL in April I fired with my Glock 17 I managed to keep all shots within about a 4" circle. I know a lot of you can shoot a 2" group at 25yds. but my vision isn't that good anymore.  I hope I find out that the XD is accurate and that the shooter is the problem.  I'll probably go again tomorrow and take my Glock 17 along just for comparison and my XDM40 and my Glock 30 and maybe a SIG and just for fun my 15yr. old Beretta.  That's a lot of cleaning though!

My XD is very accurate with speer and federal 230 grain fmj, but I don't shoot it for accuracy.  I go for speed and keep everything on a 8x11 sheet of paper while moving.   I also have a CT laser on it.

For some reason I sucked with my old XD45 compact, yet I can easily make failure drills and double taps on target with my M&P 9 at 25 yards. It seems I was the minority, though. I'm pretty sure I was compensating for recoil.

I went through a similar problem with my XD 45 as well. It seems to be a common issue with the XD.  My first 100 or so rounds were almost always low and to the right.  I am not sure what it is with the XD, but I did change my grip and after close to 600 rounds I am finally used to it.  The trigger takes some getting used to as well. I spent several hours scouring the net looking for XD issues and was ready to say it was the pistol and not me.  I quickly found there is nothing wrong with the weapon.

Thanks Ripley.  I'll wait till I get 500 or more rounds thru my XDs before blaming the gun.  I've been shooting a Glock for several years and the feel of the grips is very different between Glock and XD.
