It's weird for me..... I love my Springfield Armory Mil-Spec 1911-A1 but I hate the XD Series and I truly believe that it belongs in that special level of hell where child rapists and people that talk in movie theaters go to....
Yes, I'm a GLOCK fanatic...... So to be nice..... I'm putting on my flame suit and stepping into the oven. Anyways with the same views as me? Love Springfield's 1911s but hate the XD? |

No, actually. I like SA's 1911s(would love a MC Operator) and also love the XD. I wanted a tupperware 9mm nightstand gun that would be ready to point and shoot as soon as you pick it up. I was originally going to get a FN 9mm but all they had was .40 cal at the funshow. I saw the XD9 at another table and really liked the feel of the grip and the way it lined up the sights easily at presentation. I bought it right then and it has been flawless through several hundred rounds. I would have bought a Glock but I can't stand the grips or triggers on them. Every once in a while when I see a good used G19 I will pick it up and try to like it but the ergos just make me go "oh yeah, that is why I do not have one of these".
Different strokes for different folks, as usual. |

Yea, I know what you mean.... I hate Fords, Love Chevys, and drive Dodge..... I'm also a 1911 fanatic and have 3 Colts and 1 Para Ordance P18-9 which by the way is the most enjoyable weapon I have to shoot. Also own Beretta, Kel-Tec, Ruger, Colt revolver, Sig Sauer, Smith & Wesson and yes a Browning Hi-Power which is the most accurate weapon in my arsenal...What do I carry ? XD 45c IWB and XD357 for my car gun.... Have I ever owned a Glock ? Yes and it's a good weapon, you can't wear a barrel out on one. They are easier on the hand than an XD.... Those plastic wrapped Glock magazines are that way for a reason, recoil absorption... Why the XD ?? Back Strap Safety and a rifled barrel is more accurate than that whatever Glock calls it barrel. But to compare we would be splitting hairs at 15 yards.. I compared a Glock 36 to XD's 45c.. The 36 was more managable. XD IMO is a much safer weapon... Aren't there some video's on you tube ??? Cop shoots himself or something like that... The trigger is sweeter on an XD once it has been Springer Precionised, damn sweet.
Plus the Xd45c comes with 2 magazines. 1 10, and 1 13 rounder which takes the XD from compact to service. Also being a 1911 nut I sure like the extracter inside the slide much more than an external. I can with time come up with more reasons, those listed with comparisons ought to do. Life's too short to be hung up on one make of gun.. Shoot Safe. |
| I'm with you but it's more of a "XD...Meh..." kind of thing. I didn't hate it; I just didn't like it. I traded it for a G35 and I never looked back. XD still a great gun and I would pick one up for the right price, but after shooting that Glock I liked it much more than the XD/XDm |

XD is easier to strip than glock, but other than that they seem pretty much the same.
My old XD9 fired probably close to 10,000 rounds in less than a year and never had a single problem. I prefer XDs over glocks but not for any huge reason. I am however sick of hearing everyone who has a glock rant and rave about it... |

To me a gun is a tool....
Do I really really like one flat bladed screw driver better than the next? No.... but I do have preferances about how the handle feels or the shape of the blade. You need to find the one that fits you. If that is a G19, so be it. I sold mine when I bought an XD. |
Something that I do not understand is how you like 1911's but hate XD's when they have the same grip angle. They point and shoot pretty much the same, as opposed to going from a 1911 to any Glock. I like the XD because I can transition from a 1911 to it without changing anything (pretty much) on how I grip the gun and point and shoot. Glock "ergonomics" are all effed up and do not work for me. So like the previous posters have said, it's a tool; but I still don't understand how you can love the 1911 and hate the XD when they're pretty much similar in handling...maybe you've had too much of the purple Kool-aid

I own one because it's America's work horse of a pistol for the last 80 years of our armed forces. I carry GLOCK on duty as a LEO and off duty. I own seven GLOCKs. For me the GLOCK is the better of the two grips. I can enjoy the 1911 since it's a single stack. If I can find a Browning Hi-Power in .40 S&W for a good price I'd more then likely sell the 1911. As for the XD. I find it top heavy and I'm not a fan of the grip safety. Also more parts then my GLOCK.... so the engineer in me goes . I like less parts and I enjoy the fact that I can completely work on my GLOCK and get every part I need for it.

That's a little near sighted don't you think ? What's the deal with that do you change Glock's evryday like underwear |

If you don't like 1911's why would you say "I love my Springfield Armory Mil-Spec 1911-A1..." Maybe you need to find a word to replace "love" with.
Then you go on to say something to the tune of "you don't like the grip safety on the XD," well what the F do you think's on a 1911??? And one other thing...I personally hate Glock people saying GLOCK WAS GIVEN TO US BY GOD, THERE IS NO GUN BETTER THAN IT. Get off your high horse. The XD crowd has said time and time again that both XD and Glock or any other gun has it's + and - but the Glock clowns always chime in with their mantra and I'm sick of it. Take your grenades..I mean Glocks back to your sausagefest...I mean forum, where only those that are "professional enough" to handle the Glock are allowed. |

I love the 'more parts' argument. The sigs, HKs, and CZs have more parts than the XD. Yet they are all fantastic weapons. They are used by military and police forces all over the world. Not to mention that most of the extra parts on the XD come from the grip safety, cocking indicator, and chamber indicator.
I'm sorry, but I've seen guns with more parts than the Glock work fine, and work over and over and over again. I guess we should go inform everyone who used them that Glocks are superior, and they should stop using their over-complicated POSs...

i dont see anybody can hate something thats obviously a great product, if it doesnt fit you for some reason and you like the feel of the glock better, good for you. but to hate it? thats just silly, almost on a level of retardation. me personally i used to shoot glocks, didnt even know what a XD was until i was on my way to go shooting on 1/5/07 when i stopped at a gun store on the way that had a PILE of them and decided to buy myself a XD9 service for a birthday present, the thing just felt amazing in my hand, loved the cocked indicator and loaded chamber indicator. stopped at walmart on the way down after that and bought 10 100 round box's of WWB and shot all 1000 rounds through it that weekend. i can honestly say i havnt shot a glock since i bought my XD. i had about 5 glocks at that time and now only own one and only own it because i found it while cleaning my house a few months back and thought i had sold it. i was a diehard glock shooter but that XD changed me and it has changed quite a few of my diehard glock friends.
i love XD's, and i love 1911's. |

CAN NOT AGREE... I liked the XD's soo much, I bought four within three weeks...
