| I just bought a Springfield Mil-Spec. I want to buy the most reliable mags that I can get. I hear McCormick and Wilson combat are good. What about the Wolff 7 rounders? Input from any personal experience appreciated. |
| Metalform. They realized what a good product they were making so they up'd their price from $16,or so, to $30 and are still selling them. The way to buy is to hop on a group buy that happens every so often at 1911forum.com in their mag section. $13 bucks a pop. They are awesome in my pistol. Was gonna buy one of each of the top makers to see which were best in my gun and the first ones I bought were Metalform. I got lucky and hit gold my first time out. |
are the SST ones silver colored? i bought a McCormick 8rd mag and it's black. it worked fine but the finish is kind of shitty. i don't think they packed it with enough grease on it. |

I just "Picked up" a new Mil-Spec Operator and I found my Wilson mags which work great with my Kimbers, would lock the slide back ,but when I dropped the empty mag,the slide would also be released. So I have some Chip McCormick Shooting Stars on the way.Should have them Monday to check out. |
Yeap, they're silver colored. I also got a few of the carbon blued (black finish) ones and I was rather unimpressed with the finish on them as well (although they function fine). They have slight visible surface rust straight out of the package. Like you said, it's probably from lack of sufficient protection in the package. |
