| was wanting to find a local place to get the sights changed... a few of the places i talked to said they couldn't... are they're normal shops capable or am I going to have to send it off (or the slide anyways) to Springer to get it done. I just don't like the idea of it being gone for a while and I'm not looking for a trigger job. |

That's what I did, but I own multiple XD's and it was going to cost me more to have both of them done than the tool cost to begin with. Warning, the sights are TIGHT which is why most places charge a lot to change them. But it's perfectly doable with the tool. You may need to lock the slide in a vise first though, and use the tool. |

I've never seen a set that needed to be milled out - I think that's an excuse by most of the 'smiths I've talked to to charge more.
The worst I've ever had is to vise the slide with the tool in place, and then use a piece of pipe to bash on the sight tool's handle to get it to budge |

I do have a Gander mountain, thanks for the reminder.
also, is it a similar tool to the Glocks? I have like 6 glocks and 2 XDs that I'm ultimately going to be changing sights on. 2 of my glocks are getting done right now, picking them up later today. Are they just pushed out similar to glocks then pushed back in? some guy told me that they're pressed in with 30k pounds of force....
ETA: can't find the tool on ebay. |

Sight Installer:
http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/store/ProductDetail.aspx?p=8846&title=SEMI-AUTO%20SIGHT%20MOVER I still often use resort to the vise, punch, hammer method of removing XD sights. They are TIGHT and made of hard metal. Most could be used again with no damage after being removed via the BFH method. |

got em done at Gander yesterday. Charged me $15.... good guy and the Triji's are poppin.... good deal. If you haven't done your glocks yet, I thought trijicon night sights were pretty easy to install. factory plastic sights get torn up pretty good though... 1) rip out the front sight with some pliers 2) install front night sight with a dab of lock tight and tighten with a 3/16" nut driver i think 3) get a flat head screw driver and hammer to drift off the rear sight 4) use same flat head screw driver and hammer to install rear sight. |

I know you can send it to Springfield (i think) and they can do custom jobs on it like working on the trigger, replacing the sights, upgrading to a match grade barrel, etc http://www.springfield-armory.com/custom.php |
