Went to shoot today and after about 50 or so rounds the slide locked back and was HELLA locked.  The last shot did fire but the spent cartridge was hung between the barrell amd the slide.  With just a little push it fell right out of the magwell.  I couldnt get it to release so......Went back home and did the "dead blow hammer thing" to get the slide forward.....  Now..........the damn thing will only slide back about an inch or so !  Dead ass stopped when you try to pull it.  The striker/firing pin will engage and you can pull the trigger and it will function but thats about it.   I dont see anything obstructing anywhere.  Does this sound like a guide rod issue to anyone????  Please give me your input...

I'm not too familiar with that gun but I do know that if you bought the weapon new, SA has an excellent warranty repair program.  I suggest calling them up on Monday and requesting that it be sent in to have one of them fix it.  I had a SA 1911 that went bad, I called SA, they sent me a return label at no cost and told me it would be about 4 weeks before I would see the gun back.  I sent it out on Monday, it arrived back on Friday the same week.  I haven't had a problem since.  Before you go tinkering with a broke gun and do something to void the warranty, I would send it back first.

thats what ive about decided to do.   I did some trgger work to it when I got it back early last year.(did some polishing and installed lighter trigger spring from powder river)....nothing major, I have done this to my other xd's as well.  Think that would void the warranty?

My experience with Springfield is this. Send it in broke, they send it back fixed. I bought an XD357SIG used for a small sum with the reciever screwed up. FUBAR, and I don't want to get into the story as to why because it's a long one and had to do with domestic issues... Sent it to Springfield expecting a big bill. They sent it back about a month later to my dealer with a bill for a hundred bucks... They replaced the receiver with a new one, it had a different serial number and I had to redo all the ATF paperwork. But who cares other than it doesn't match the barrel and slide numbers. Expected to pay much more.... You would do well doing the same thing I did.  Send it in and don't say a word about anything that's been done. If it comes back with a bill, then it comes back with a bill.

Well.................Springfield called Friday and told me my gun was fixed ! But.......it would cost me $126.00 to get it back? The woman said it was due to barrel obstructions - the barrel was "swelled out" ?  I know they have a lifetime warranty but the disclaimer states exceptions  that may void ta free relacement on parts and labor.  Thats fine but I'm still having trouble with what could have been obstructing a damn near new gun ?  Maybe 300 rounds has been put through tis gun and I am the origional buyer of the gun. Has anyone else had trouble with warranty cost or am I just blowing smoke and should just suck it up and not worry about it?   I just find it hard to believe that anything would be a barrel obstuction on a gun that mostly sits in the safe? Any thoughts?

Were you shooting reloads?

Is it possible you had a squib, followed by a full-power round?

That sucks, man.

Well, I s'pose $126 isn't too bad, in the big picture.  Heck, that's only about two boxes of ammo at today's rates!

Yeah, at least I get my gun back, and as I said before I will still suport the springfield company by buying more.....Just not for their "LIFETIME WARATY"  Could be worse right?  And thats a big no shit on the ammo !

Your barrel jumped your locking block!
I had that exact same problem twice, sent it in twice, got a new one from Springfield after the second time.

I took the new one and traded it for a Glock and I will never go back.
Springfield has great customer service but I don't trust there XD guns anymore.
