I am having some issues with my XD Tactical .45 jamming and stove piping with reloads. I am loading a 200 gr SWC with 5.5 grs W231. If I only put 8
rounds in the mag it seems to run fine, but if I load 13 rounds it will stovepipe and the next round in the mag will be vertical nose down. Sometimes it will just not extract the case and the slide will partially rechamber the empty case. However it doesn't do this consistently.
Has anyone had simular issues with reloaded ammo?

It's not the ammo it's the bullet...XD 45's for the most part will not feed a SWC type of bullet, I know I tried them in my 4" service, Over at the XD forum, this topic has been hashed over pretty well, and the root of the problem is the XD was designed for a round nosed style of bullet, since, it is after all a service pistol. The use of SWC's were probably never considered. If you use a LRN or truncated cone type of bullet, your feed problems will go away..

+1

I use ordinary 230gr plated bullets with no issues.

I read the warning at the XD Forums and never bothered with the SWC.

I tried SWC once in my XD45 and it did not like it at all.  Like stated above, I would stick with jacketed rounds.

Cool - I just learned something myself too.  I was having the exact same trouble with my SWC reloads.
