| I have the loaded black/stainless steel model (which i only put 200 rounds through) and was wondering if anyone else have experienced this problem. On the side of the triggerguard the paint seems to be chipping right off as if it was spray painted on. I dont know about you, but when you pay big bucks for a firearm the last thing you want to see is paint chipping off. Should i contact springfield directly? |
Oh tell me about it. I talked to the gun shop at which i bought it for and they told me to bring it in to ship back to springfield so hopefully something will get down. I love the 1911 and love springfield and put the two together and got a lemon. |
Maybe the following rule needs tacked. When purchasing a SA 1911: Step 1) Open Box Step 2) Tighten rear sight My good friend purchased a SA loaded. His rear sight slipped off first time out. After shooting my buddies, I picked up an SA. My rear sight popped off first mag. After shooting mine, a co-worker picked up a two-tone 1911. First thing I had him check was the rear sight... Yes, loose. I love SA, but their rear sight tightening tool seems in need of replacement. OP, let us know how SA handles the finish issue. Tightening a rear sight is 1 thing. A bad finish.. unacceptable. Good luck. |
| The shop i bought it from didnt think the paint chipping was a big deal. When you pay big bucks for a firearm and only use it once it shouldnt have this kind of problem. They sent it back to springfield not sure if their going to do anything about it. Ill keep you updated. |
i NEVER put it in a holster yet. Always been in the case. Only took it out once to the range :( thats why i was so concerned. Whats going to happen when i do put in a holster? the whole finish is going to chip off. |

I have a SS loaded, the loaded I took for a test drive before I bought it the rear sight was shifting around like crazy, but the gun shot well, I did not think much of it as it was a dedicated rental and there was a set screw on the sight. The loaded I bought does not even need the screw to stay on the gun, when I removed the front and rear sight when I refinished the gun I had to pound it out, and then refit the rear sight after the refinish. It still does not need the set screw but I have blue lock tight holding it in also. As for the finish, have Springfield fix that! |
