Is this something that is easy or should be left to the gunsmiths? Also is there a groove/notch the new sight will go to or is the just centered on the slid.
I took mine to the range, they have a small workshop there and they installed it for $20. I know that doesn't help you any! I didn't watch him do it, but I'm pretty sure they use the Sig Sauer push tool. I'd recommend getting someone with the tools to do it so they're responsible for any screw ups.
I installed my own on my XD45 and my buddie did his on his Subcompact 9 and xd45, They do take more force than any other gun I have replaced sights on but if you have a good punch set and a hammer you can do it yourself. I did mine without a vice i just layed the slide down on a towel wrapped my punch up in tape as to not scratch the slide and beat the living hell out of it untill the sights came out. Total time was about 20 mins tops, that includes take down and clean up. good luck.
