I have a can on the way and need a threaded barrel for my 4" .40 XD. Who makes one that will drop in? I know the firedragon ones are out there, but the site says they are "Semi-drop in". Anybody have any experience with them or another brand? |

The can is an Impulse IIa, which are no longer being produced domestically. It came with two pistons in different threads, and my plan is to get the XD threaded for one and convert the other to a fixed barrel for a carbine to be determined (ATTN: RRA). It's actually a .45 can, but my understanding is it will work, with a possible slight degredation in performance. If it turns out to suck, I'll just get an HK Tactical. I tried Bar-sto on Fri., but ther only work early on Mon-Thurs. Maybe tomorrow. Had the Impulse not dropped into my lap cheaply and locally, I probably would have gone for an AAC .40. I can't remember the model off the top of my head. |
Its only overtime...Besides, the Impuls IIa was designed for that weapon specifically. I didn't even think I could find one, but there's one sitting at the gunstore. The owner is grousing becasue nobody will pay that much for a threaded gun in a state where you can own a supressor but not shoot it. Does anybody have experience shooting .40 in a .45 can? If I'm losing too much performance I really think I'll bag it and use the can on a .45 instead... |

Disregard. I got a USP Tactical .45 with three mags and a thread protector for just over 1K. Pre tax, of course... Come on, can! I figured around $600 for a new XD45, 4300 for the barrel...Might as well spring for $100 difference for the match trigger and barrel. |
