I finally joined the family today. I purchased the XD-40 Sub Compact to be my primary concealed carry weapon. I also own a Walther P99 but rarely carried it due to size. And after the VA Tech shooting made me think it was time I started carrying more often. Anyways, my question for y'all is which ammo do you other Sub Compacters carry with? The gentelman at the gun shop recommended the Low Recoil Federal Hyadra Shock  rounds becasue of the shorter barrel. Does this sound right to you guys? It sounded logical to me so I bought a few boxes. I am headed to the range tomorrow to test her out.

I would say shoot a few different types and see which kind handles best and shoots the best and then go with that. In my .40s I normaly carry Hornandy 155gr TAP. My XD SC is 9mm though so I can not help you there.

Low recoil?  From what I've heard, +p's work better in shorter barrelled guns.  I've been breaking mine in, and haven't tried any carry loads yet.  I have not had any problems with any ammo used so far (CCI, Federal, WWB, Wolf, Rem).  Mine's a 9mm though.

i agree, i use the 135gr fed hydra shocks and they are great.

speer has a line of gold dots out for short barreled guns that might be something to look into.

btw congrats on the new gun i have a .40sc to go with my .40 service and i ove them both.
