I picked up my best friend who had not been to the range in about 10 years and we headed out to American Shooting Center today with my CMMG midlength carbine and my new XD9. We put a couple hundred rounds through the carbine and proceeded to the pistol range. It showed that he had not shot in a while. I have been dry firing my XD since I bought it and this was my first trip to the range with it. Putting about 500 "rounds" through it by dry firing really helped a lot. It only took about half a mag to get used the trigger in live fire and I am very satisfied with it. We ran about 200 rounds of Wolf, Brown Bear, WWB and some Rem Golden Saber +P. POI was consistent with POA with all ammo used. Even with the stock trigger I shot as good with the XD as I do with my 1911s. Range was 10 yards.

The middle group is 6 magazines of mixed Wolf, BB and WWB. Bottom left was the first 5 rounds of Rem Golden Saber to see if there was much difference in recoil or POI with the +P ammo, and there was not. Bottom right was a full magazine plus 1 of the Golden Saber. I will buy another 250 rounds of the Rem and test it fully but I have good confidence in keeping this pistol in my nightstand already.

As good as this pistol is with a stock trigger I wonder what I could do with it and a CanyonCreek trigger job.

Congrats. I love mine. The trigger job is probably nice but I like mine just fine the way it is.

Yeah, I think I will wait for a 1000 or two rounds to go through it and see how the trigger smooths out before I think about getting the trigger worked on.

congrats on the new xd! I have a service model in .40 and will be picking up a sc in .40 soon. i love them and they fit me better than any other gun out there, plus i shoot it way better than anything else as well. as far as the trigger, i saw marked improvement after the 500, 1000, and 1500 rd mark, and it is over 3000rds in mine now and it is perfect, i know exactly what it is gonna do, i have gotten to were the trigger and me are pretty much one. it gets even better with time. but if you are absolutly set on getting a trigger job, check out,

I just picked up my XD9 sub compact yesterday and I love it. My wife already has a XD9 4", but I wanted the sub and I seem to shoot better with it. I guess I'll eventually find out if the trigger gets better with age.
