I know the Springers have a life time warranty but is it transferrable?

Technically No, it is the original owners lifetime, not the weapons lifetime. Unless it has been to Springfield before and they have a record of it how would they know ???

So, you die in a shoot out because of a fail to feed or a broken ejector and you're SOL?

and to answer your question "How do they know", you send in a warranty card when you buy the firearm.  If the original buyer sends in the card, you as the second owner are SOL.

Leupold has a lifetime warranty that transfers.

I never send in warranty cards. It is not required by law, they still must honor their warranty. All you have to do is keep a receipt for POP. I would never buy a gun without the card just to be sure it had not been sent in.

Most gun mfgrs now unofficially honor their warranties unless the gun has really been abused. SA prides itself on good CS, so I would send it in & have them do a quote for you. They may very well take care of you, IMO.

Good luck!!

I called Springfield this afternoon and that was the same answer they gave me.  As long as the gun has not been modified, they will honor the warranty.

I had the same thing happen with a Weaver scope I bought, I sent it in for repair and they replaced a lens at no cost even though I was not the original buyer.

I bought an older Springfield 1911 that some asshat had WESCOG'ed, then the asshat's gunsmith WESCOG'ed it on top of that, and finally the owner of the shop that took it in on trade WESONG'ed it.

I only paid $300 for it.

I called Springfield, they told me that they would not fix a gun that had been WESCOG'ed, but to send it in and they would take a look at it.

I got it back about a month later and it had all new internals and a new barrel, plus it had the original sights mounted on it.

They did all the work for free.

Sorry, What is WESCOG?  It sounds as if Springfield is one of those companies that goes above and beyond.  Thanks
