I just notice on my new XD 9mm that it seems that the guide rod seems to be sticking out a little bit.  When you look at the gun from the side you can see where the rod sticks out a little so that the flat part is not flush with the front of the gun.  Is this normal? Or am I just worrying over nothing?  Thanks.

CQB feature.  It allows "contact" firing without the slide going out of battery.  Most handguns will go out of battery when the muzzle is pressed against something which prevents the gun from firing.  Not so with the XD (service model anyway).
