This is going to kill any chance that the xd45gap ever had if had any at all
I may need to buy me a gap for nastalgic purposes |
I disagree - the .45GAP still has a potential, viable market among shooters with small hands. (Unless they have found a way around the laws of physics, this one's grip will have to be bigger than that of the .45GAP version, albeit smaller than the competing double-stack .45ACPs... ) |

Hey all! The bigger local store by me has a XD in .45 thats in the back. Thankfully my fav sales person was in today and brought it out for me to take a look at. It honestly felt like I was holding a 9 double stack. Definitely was a lot smaller than the glocks and CZ's in .45 I've played with. The grip was a big long so it felt like a 5" barrel would look better on it, but I was fairly impressed with the XD... That said I'm probably gonna wait for them to come out with a tactical version for the 5" barrel. Just want to let ya'll know that the .45 XDs are in stores...
Did they have a price? |
BASTYARDS!!!! GAP is the DEVIL!!!!!
xplanation: For many years I have laughed at the 38super guys that had to meticulously sort every piece of brass... As a .45 shooter, I had no such problem. Now, thanks to theose ArseWholes at Gluck, [and the other azzwipes at winchester for their winclean..] I too have to sort every single case. |
Didn't see a price but the gunstore guy guestimated around $529 since its new. However, the store runs 9mm XD's for around 449... ETA: And by new I mean a new product so he didn't think the price would get a reduction right off the bat, but i'll pop into the store after christmas and see what the prices are... |

We got one in today at my gunstore. Its nice. REAL nice. It felt just like a XD9 or 40, with just a hair thicker of a grip. Its MUCH better than a G21. I think they will sell like hotcakes. We had it out at $519. It sold before it hit the shelf.
I'm surprised they are in stores already. Usually there is at least a 3-6 month wait when it shows up on the website. I need to go visit my funshop |
You and me buddy. I was blown away when the boss was like "hey dude, the 45 XD is here" |

Any Subcompacts on the way anychance?
Never fired a small 45 but a Subcompact sounds pretty handy if it doesnt kill me... |
You didn't check to see if it fits a regular XD holster by chance did you? |
+1 I've been eyeing the XD-40 Subcompact, but would rather have it in a .45ACP. It's kinda hard to carry my suppressed HK Tactical concealed. |
They are out now here in KY. I just bought mine today 23 Dec 2005. Merry Christmas to me.
Sorry forgot to say, price was $531 (tax and all) you get a case, holster (not for carry IMO), mag carrier, mag loader, brush, cable lock, & 2 mags
Impressions? Can I look forward to getting rid of the 40? |
finally now the xd is really done now it's at full now it's going to really dig into the market now it's going to tear up all sorts of other types of pistols now its truly a fighting gun in the sense of the people that were left out the 45acp the one that don't trust anything else but 45acp not gap but acp now glock is really going to have to change it up change something or have something up there selve i just hope now the the xd can handle the 45acp shock on that very thin frame i think they should also make one all metal an xd in a steel version who would like that ? i thought about it and i figured it would be neat strong and it would healp with the recoil too i don't know what do i know i just hope it rwork perfectly in this caliber and not long term damage or cracks appear on it now also hope the subcompact come out and i'm set for life

the words too big and complicated or what ? lol h.gif

Sentence structure is a beautiful thing |

And it was what -a year or two ago that some people here were raving about how great the .45 GAP would be - using anything to rationalize it. Good bye, .45 GAP. It's been nice knowing you! |
Good bye XD .45 Gap
Hello XD .45 ACP Waiting to meet XD 10mm................................ |
Good bye GAP its not been nice knowing you..... |
good bye gap, ive never known you I can just imagine how alot of xdgappers are feeling since most of them bought it for the main reason of wanting both a 45 and an xd but really wanted a 45acp. If I had made that kind of compromise I would be pissed after finding out about the XD45acp. Will someone who has access to a xd45acp please see if an xd40 slide will fit on the frame? I can feel a frankin XD10 comming on |
Well lets say I love it, and I will come back and give my impressions after I shoot it in an IDPA match. I have an XD9 and IMO it is just as good (better, its 45acp). It fits my Kydex holster that I bought for my XD9 though alittle tight. I think it is just slightly larger than XD9.
Why does everyone want a sub-compacthinking.gif I vote for a regular compact. Something with a 3.5" barrel and just enough room for people with small hands to fit their pinkey on the grip. But of course I like my new XD40 and my 45 Kimber...so I will be waiting for the 10mm compact to come out |

Nothing yet in MI either I want one! |
Wonder if the new XD's will have a more durable finish??
SA should have a clue by now.... Lex |
Where at in KY? hug.gif |
I am up to over 500 rnds and have not had any thing bad happen yet.
How does the XD compare in size to the Glock 21? The 21 is just too damn big to carry for me.
THe grip is MUCH smaller than the 21 in circumfrence. Its quite a nice grip, really. Its ever better than my Robar reduced 21. But, im still not going to get rid of my Glock |
I got a beautiful reduction on mine from a guy (Continental Firearms I think) out in PA. He did an awsome job. I have big hands but the 21 just didn't feel right. And for the size and weight it was just too much to schlepp around. I'll probably try one of these XDs and try to sell the 21. I just never fell in love with it and when I want to shoot .45 I just grab my 1911. I did have an XD in 40 and it had quality issues. I sold it after a few mags. My nephew has 2 XDs and has had no problems and he likes them a lot. But I shoot way more than him. There is another thread comparing the sizes and the XD looks to be somewhat smaller, but 14 rounds of .45 is going to be heavy no matter how light the frame is.
Now, I will have one of each. XD9 purchased 2004. XD40 sub comapct purchased today. XD .45ACP will purchase when they come out! Happy! Happy! Joy! Joy! I love the XD's
WHAT? Yes they are reliable. I'd bet my life on it! Well, I guess I do I’ve never had mine hiccup once out of many, many rounds. |
Called a place here in NC that is doing pre-orders of them for $453.95. Says he has one (one of the original 250), but will not sell it. That's the best price I have found so far. Any one got a better deal or know who actually has one for sell?
It may be Feb. before they (XD's in .45 ACP) start showing up in mass quantities.
Lex |
Friend bought one. We will test it tommorrow night IPSC style.
Should be fun. Pretty inpressed w/9mm version. I'm bringing P14 limited and Glock24c open gun.... should be fun head to head comparison. Wasn't too interested in 45 XD, till I checked his pistol out... Seems quality at first glances... |
The gunstore I went to said they should get them in March. |
Is the XD45 good for a CCW, or too big? Do they have a compact (not subcompact) model?
I finally got to fondle... wait... yep, "fondle" is the right word ... one of these at the local gun show last weekend. MUCH more comfortable in my hands than my G21s. I'm going to wait and see what the initial feedback is like, how they hold up, and let SA work out any bugs (if there are any), but one (or more ) of these is definitely in my future...
Picked mine up at a little out of the way pawn shop near Concord, NC NIB for $487.99 out the door. Me very happy now and yes, it does fit the XD-40 holsters quite nicely.
