Anyone have or know much about the WW2 champion lightweight model? I've been looking for a Commander-size 1911 for CCW purposes and this is one that is on my list to "investigate further". I know the Loaded Champion is probably the best option with the included upgrades, but the weight savings on the no-frills WW2 model seem worth it--I'd probably tweak it a little too. So I'd appreciate any and all feedback you folks might have. I've got one SA already, a mil-spec fullsize that I absolutely love, so a second to keep it company seems like a good idea. Maybe a third or fourth if the WW2 line is worth having!

Accuracy won't be as good as the higher end models, IMO. The sights are rudimentary & will snag on pure air so it will suck for a CCL gun unless they're changed. By the time you did all this, you could've bought the higher model & been shooting from the start. My .02 |

I have a full size G.I. and a full size loaded and my G.I. has been as reliable and accurate as my loaded model. I have been thinking about that model of champion my self. I am not concerned about the sights snagging as much as those G.I. sights are not easy to get on target fast. I can actualy shoot more accurate at the range with them though than with the night sights on my loaded model. I hate the saftey levers on my loaded model. I am also not a beaver tail guy and I also prefer the rounded back strap or whatever you call it over the straight one. |
That would be the "main spring housing" & I too prefer the round/curved type over the flat style. Beats the hell out of me why so many mfgrs know only offer the flat style? |
