For the guys that have a XD9 service or tactical. How are they holding up.
Considering getting a used one. Mag look to be reasonable. Sights are compatible with sig. Not sure about holsters. |

I have a good buddy who has had an xd45, and I have two XDms, none of which has had so much as a stovepipe. I do have a friend with an XD9 SC but I don't think it has a very high round count.
If you're concerned about the gun having a high round count I would replace the striker retaining pin and recoil spring. After that, I'd have no hesitation taking it to the range for a thousand round class. |

I have a very early XD-40 Tactical (non-melonite finish) It had the locking block (old style) replaced at about 6000 rds. The gun never failed but there was a visible crack that was growing slowly. After I first noticed it I shot two more USPSA matches with it. SA replaced the block under warranty and turned the gun around in 8 days. It now has nearly 40,000 rds on it. |
| I rarely buy a used gun for carry but got an XD9 service off the EE (local ftf) for a great price, not like some of the EE ads that list used guns for the same price as we get them new at Academy. A few small items I found. Gun did not appear to have ever been fired (or very few rounds), but there was some peening where the striker may have been off center and bouncing off pin hole in breech face. Looks like a manufacturing defect but does not affect function. Mag release recently started hanging up, strangely after breaking in my mecgar 18 rnd mags, which were very tight. It is just slow to return so possibly just needs a good cleaning and some dry lube. Functions well in all other aspects. I have replaced the striker pin but the OEM pin looked brand new. I do not dry fire often. The finish is outstanding. My favorite holster doesn't have a sweat shield and its gotten soaked during summer months in humid SE TX with zero corrosion issues. I use a galco stow n go iwb and a galco pancake or a Serpa CQC. |

Quoted: Also looks like the 45 alway used melonite. I am looking at a 9mm from 03. Do you think I will have any problems? |

Assuming that you have this used, I do not know how SA would handle it. I have one from 2005, and the finish started having problems with slight surface rusting (old Brunial). I sent it into SA and the refinished the slide at no cost. I have shot mine untold rounds in USPSA. I have only replaced the recoil, striker, and magazine springs on it. Yep, sample of one.. I recently went out and bought the XD mod.2 Service just because it has worked so well. |
