Hello Everyone, I am in the process of looking into this TRP model from Springfield. Anybody has this one special gun with comments please post what you like about it. Also, would you please address the performance of this gun as well. I appreciate your input to help me make a decison of purchase. sincerely, |

I have a TRP; a friend has a TRP and TRP Operator. We are very pleased with their performance. Accurate, reliable pistols. I posted a review of mine last year, but it is archived. Very nicely fitted, quality pistols. I have put a fair number of rounds through my pistol with no problems, and have shot it almost exclusively in a defensive pistol league this winter. I had one FTF with an out of spec cast reload, no fault of the pistol. I saw more failures with Glocks. I am quite happy with the Armory coat finish. It is holding up very well on a pistol which has seen a lot of leather holster use. I did replace the 2 piece guide rod with Ed Brown USGI parts, but that is a personal preference. Other than that, pistol is stock. I do intend to install Gunner grips on it when I get the chance. I have a set on my loaded SA, and like them. Minor gripes with my friend's TRP Operator: the "grit" grips (grit falls off with use) and sharp edges on adjustable sights. I prefer the fixed Novaks. I think you will be pleased with one. Do a search on "TRP" in the handgun forum. I do recall a couple of minor issues with a TRP, I think related with the slide not lockingn back on last shot.... |
| I picked mine up on Tuesday of this past week. TRP with Armory Kote. I LOVE IT!!! I've put about 300 rounds through it without any problems whatsoever. It is very accurate. I am able to shoot the 10 ring out of the target at 50 feet. It is extremely tight. I've been comparing it some of the custom guns that I've handled in the past and I honestly think that fit and finish is equal. Mine is an absolutely superb firearm. |
