Kicking around the idea of picking up a Mod 2, I've got two full size handguns and two revolvers and I'd like a compact now. I went to the LGS today and fondled a bunch of tiny guns and I really like the Mod 2. What caliber does everyone like in their compacts?
Before anyone asks, NJ. So there is no hope of carrying it for every day use. I well carry it around the house and yard but not it in public. When I move to a state that isn't a prison I'll carry it daily. Currently I've already got a Beretta 92FS (9MM) and a 1911 (.45 ACP). I don't own anything in .40 S&W; BUT I actually have .40 S&W ammo sitting in the bottom of the safe. No idea where it came from, it was most likely given to me by mistake when I bought ammo. I'm kind of leaning towards the .40 Mod 2./ Opinions, suggestions? Thanks. |

Not trying to be a dumbass but what is a Mod 2? Thanks Springfield XD MOD 2 |
| I carry an XD subcompact in .40, its a decent gun, but I can't honestly say I really enjoy shooting very much. .40 has a pretty fair amount of recoil in a small gun like that, the Mod 2 is somewhat better ergonomically, but it can't change the laws of physics. I would prefer 9mm in a gun that size. I'm not going to dump the gun, its just not my favorite. |
| I really like my 45 mod 2, I either carry the mod 2 in 45 or my 9mm shield. the only issue that i have ever had is when using the 13 round xdm mags without the extension and thats just that the slide will stay locked back if to much pressure is put on the mag. but thats only happened about 3 times. |
| I have a sub compact 40. It does have some snap. IMHO it is quite a bit more manageable than the glock 27. The 27 seemed to jump a lot more. The xd being a comparable specimen in size and weight (+ a couple ounces) does seem more manageable from my time at the range with both. My xd SC 40 is my edc pistol and goes with me every time I leave my doorstep. |
