Just ordered a springfield lightweight operator for 950$. Very excited about this, I have a rock island 1911, but don't know much about them. This is going to be my wedding gift from my fiance.
What to expect from this pistol? Where to get a good threaded barrel for suppressor use? Accessories? The wait time was quoted as between 6 months and a year, but I don't care. Really looking forward to this one. |

It's awesome. Easily my favorite 1911. For threaded barrels for my 1911's I use Storm Lake. You can get them from Midway USA pretty quickly (They usually take back orders or at least have a "Notify me" on them) |

I have a full size lw operator, I've only had it for a few months but couldn't be happier.
Just ditch the two piece guide rod, tends to unscrew during shooting. And don't go crazy with hunting down 30-40 dollar mags unless you're crazy about having to have 8 vs 7 rounds. Don't pass up on using the Springfield loaded coupon and get yourself a set of mags for $9 a piece. Great standard mags and you could always upgrade them with a Tripp Super 7 kit. Reliable 7 round mags for $18. |
