| you talking about the end thingy on the recoil spring that is held in place by the barrel bushing? It's a bit tricky, but keep it depressed with an allen wrench or something and wear safety glasses. Nothing like taking a close look at your progress and BOING! poking your eye out |
| Got the spring in and the slide back on. I looked through the manual, but it did not seem to help other than to tell me were the spring went. Thanks for the help. I think it was good for me to vent a little bit. I will be taking it out today and see how she works! |
| Well, I got the spring thing figured out the first time but the second time I broke it down, I locked it up. I guess I didn't have the linkage right and didn't have it upside down!!! They told me it was pretty bad but they'll fix it at my local gunsmith / shop. Crap, crap, crap. Oh well, It's all a learning experience. Hopefully they don't screw anything up gettin it freed up. Has anyone else done this???? |
Are you trying to put the slide back on the frame with the with the recoil spring on? Is this a one piece guide rod or a 2 piece guide rod? |
It is a two piece rod and I did put the slide back on with the spring in it. The spring will not come out the front. |
Is this the type of guide rod and plunger you have?  If so try this. Place the barrel in the slide, and then place the guide rod in. Now place them on the frame (it is best to invert the pistol for this step). Pull the slide all the way back, and then install the barrel bushing. Now you can install the slide stop. Once you have the pin of the slide stop through the barrel link, close the slide and put the safety on. Now insert the spring and then put the plunger on. Once you have the plunger all the way down, now you can twist the barrel bushing until the plunger is locked under it. Just wear some eye protection when you install the plunger as they have a tendency to fly off if you are not careful. Hope this helps. If you have any other quesions just ask. |
| Yea, that is the plunger. Luckily, I worked paitently and tried a few things and was able to get it all back together. I think next time will be a lot easeir. As they say, the more times you do somehting, it will get easier. Did take it out shooting over the weekend and everyting worked well. Thanks for the all the tips. |

Two piece guide rod made install made easy for full lenght pistols. Install the barrel in the slide, rotate the barrel bushing all the way clockwise, insert the spring into the slide (in from the end), then drop the back portion of the rod into the slide and lock the spring on it. Now slide the slide onto the frame, and insert the slide catch (recoil spring hanging out the front and the barrel busing at the 10:00 position from the front). Drop the hammer onto the slide, and rest the back (hammer side) of the pistol a a table. Now put the guide cap on the spring and push the cap/spring down below the bottom of the barrel bushing and spin the barrel bushing into the locked position. Last item is to insert the end piece of the two piece guild rod into the guild rod cap, feed it threw the spring, and then spin/ allen wrench it tight. If your trying to load it like a retaining pin guide rod type (hole threw the rod to insert a holding pin used on bull type barrel) your going to be wearing the parts.  |
