| Alright guys I bought a Springfield Loaded 1911 Black Stainless Target. I have put between 100-150 rounds through it. I have not even took it apart for cleaning yet. I notice today that the paint on the front strap is coming off. It looks really bad. I know I have not scratched it against anything that should have done this. It may have rubbed against my holster or something but it has definatly not been scraped against any metal surfaces or anything like that. I am just wondering if this is a common problem or what. I have e-mailed them and am just waiting to hear from them. This is a Brazillian gun. |

Apparently a common issue with the "black stainless." It's been reported on various forums where I hang and a shooting acquantence had the problem with his.
I believe that Springfield has stepped up to the problem to the satisfaction of the owners im each case. Give 'em a call. Don't bother with e-mail. |
| I might have 1K rounds through mine. Bought it slightly used for a screaming price. The finish on the top of the slide is speckled. It's probably about 5 years old. The black on the frame is fine. It's chipping around the ejection port. The factory trigger really sucks. Did I mention the trigger sucks? It doesn't have creep, but it's about 8#. If I feel the need to shoot a 1911, I shoot my Series 70 Gold Cup. I take the Springer out to plink a few times a year. |
