I just picked up a Dan Wesson model 15 revolver and since I am a reloader I will be rolling my own ammo for it. I know my Rugers are stronger than Smith and Wessons but how do the Dan Wessons rate?
Mine is a Monson model 15 357 mag w/8in barrel. Oh, the trigger is awesome, a nice clean 4lb break. |

look at it this way.
you are buying a used (you dont say new or used tho) and plan on shooting maybe some hot loads thru it. do you know what the previous owners have done to the gun. they could be just like you and have shot a steady diet of hot loads thru it. before you shoot it, have a good gunsmith go over it and check for any issues. |

You'll find plenty of info here
http://www.danwessonforum.com/?page_id=3 I haven't reloaded in a long time, some of our guys are much more knowledgeable on reloading for DW's, and no one has blown anything up yet. |

I own a couple dan Wessons. I have one i bought in 1984
When you go to places like Buffalo Bore they have ammunition that states Ruger, Dan Wesson and few others. The Dan Wessons are solid guns, and they are large for a reason, they can handle heavy rounds. You can still get parts from the factory. I bought the extra barrels for mine. In the golden age of silhouetting, the Dan Wesson sixgun was king Powerhouse sixguns of Dan Wesson |

Quoted:
The Dan Wesson model 14/15/715 frame is roughly the size of an L frame Smith, but they used somewhat stronger steel. Not as strong as a Smith N frame obviously, but still very strong. I would not load them up to .357 Suppermag though. Gratuitous Dan Wesson pic: http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m192/NVGdude/DWVariants008.jpg Nice pistols ya got there. |
