| I have recently bought 2 pythons and while waiting on them to arrive I am curious as to their size. Do they compare to a N frame S&W or closer to the K frame smiths? |
|
I believe the Python is smaller than the N frame Smith but a little bigger than or very close to the K frame in size. I have a Python- It is loose in a N frame Galco holster. It fits a K frame holster ok. I only have the J frame Smith but I've shopped and handled all in my fav fun store. |

You guys must be pups. Colt really got upset when the 586 came out because it is virtually the same outside as a Python. They use the same holsters. The idea was all those police officers that wanted a Python but couldn't get or afford one could get a 586 / 686. The balance pretty much the same in the hand.
So the short answer is an Python is pretty much the same size as a L frame Smith |

You did. I was bringing it up because of the stink between Colt and Smith. The dimensions are so close, I remember in an article Colt was rattling their swords to sue smith but they really did not have a case |
