I just removed the internal lock from a 329PD and while I believe I set the mainspring tension correctly (the screw appears to be at the same depth as before) the DA trigger pull is decidedly cleaner now. The gun will be test fired tomorrow to test for light primer strikes and to ensure proper function (and will be tweaked if I screwed up), it just struck me as really strange as it did not seem like the lock would have anything to do with the pull of the trigger.

Anyone know if the lock affects trigger pull in any way, shape, or form?

The strain screw should be turned in as far as it will go. If it isn't, it has a tendency to work loose and eventually you'll have failures to fire.

The lock shouldn't affect trigger pull, but it's possible that there were dimensional problems between parts due to manufacturing tolerances.

It shouldn't.  I also have a 329PD.  The lock should not shape the quality of the trigger at all.  The spring screw should be seated all the way.  Some folks will back the screw out for a "trigger job" but it really isn't how the gun is designed to function.

Okay thanks, that's what I thought.

It was test fired today without problems with admittedly few rounds, only 42, but I'll be pulling the grips to inspect the screw and slap on a different set anyways.

Pretty much a riot to shoot. It almost makes me want to own one.
