I'm trying to find out what the value is? I bought it around 1968 . It's 6 inch barrel, adjustable rear sights, blue about 99% some minor holster wear, I've put less than 50 rounds through it. But it is very accuate. Any Old Colt guy's got any idea. Oh the serial# is 52895. Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks

Your Trooper was made in 1966.
Value depends on actual overall condition, and whether it's fitted with original factory target hammer and stocks, or Service hammer and stocks.

Also, WHERE the gun is effects pricing, since Colt's sell higher in some areas, and lower in others.

Best advice:  Go down to a local book store, and see if they have a copy of "The Blue Book of Gun Values".  This lists prices based on actual condition, and will give you a fair average value of your gun.

Old model Colt Troopers are starting to go up in value, since people have discovered that the Trooper is sort of a "poor man's Python".
The Trooper and Python are the same basic gun. with the Python being a higher quality finished and fitted model with the lugged and ribbed barrel.

In fact, back in the early 70's, a number of gunsmiths were converting Troopers to Pythons, by welding up the front of the frame to match the Python barrel's rib, giving the gun a Python-quality blue job, and tuning the action to Python specs.

Faris,
Thanks for the info, I don't have the original grips cause it made the trip to Nam with me and kind of took a beating (the grips I mean)  it's a real accurate piece, I put some Houge Grips on it when I returned stateside. I guess I'll go to the library. Thanks again!

Great old guns are the Troopers (old models...they can have the MkIII's) I have a 4in. in .38 Spl of which not too many were made, since they figured out quickly thet there was no downside to chambering them in .357mag.

As noted, it is the same gun as the Python except for the built up area at the top front of the frame and the lugged barrel. They actually do not seem to bring nearly what they should when put up for sale, and Pythons bring too much IMHO for what they are actually worth...to me at least.

Very strong, very accurate and a very nice wheelgun!
