Howdy all.  If all goes to plan, I'll be getting my LCR next friday.  It's my first revolver and will be my summer carry gun.  What do you all recommend to carry in a .38?

Thanks,
CaRbZ

+ emmm... 2.7?... not certain how much a wink is worth in metric-internetz.
Wonderful ammo in my 642. Very controllable with a big punch.

158 grain lead semi-wadcutter hp+p. Remington is good.

Speer's 135gr +p short barrel mix is IT for snub loads right now.

Outside of that, a lot of people like heavy, cast lead semi-waddcutters or flat-nosed with a bit more powder behind them than usual for the penetration.

+1 this is what I carry in my little Ruger when I don't have .357 loaded in it.

Isn't that the old "FBI" round? Supposed to have the knockdown of a 230 gr. .45

I was told that the Speer 135s were pretty good.. and you all pretty much confirmed it.   Thanks a bunch!

+5 (or 6, I lost count)

It's hard stuff to find in stock but Midway accepts backorders for it.

yes, the 158gr lead HP load is the 'FBI' load.

I am currently using the Remington version of the FBI load.  I bought an LCR, and this was the only factory load I had in stock.  I intend to try the 135 grain loads at some time, I used to use a Federal 129 grain load, haven't seen it lately, though.

The 158s are about as hard kicking as I want to go.  A man has to know his limitations, I think they are mine.

The Buffalo Bore wadcutter load looks interesting.  I have loaded several boxes of wadcutters for practice.
