I just got a model 66 SS 2.5 inch barrel.  It is a pinned and recessed model. SS front sight(not black) with orange insert, adjustable rear sight.  I was told it was a -2, nut i can't figure out what it is.  It doesn't have a S&W roll mrk below the latch(which is old style).  I can't find my camera to up load any pics.  I could text some if someone knows about them.  By the way I ended up with it after my Pop took a brand new never fired XD .45 to the gun show today.  I told him to call if he finds any snubbies(specifically a mew M&P).  Never called and brought this home(straight trade).  His friend said it was some certain version worth alot more than my XD(it does have some work done).  I'm trying to see if I got hosed.

If you open the cylinder, you should see the model and serial number on the frame where the crane would press up against it.  Where is the roll mark if it isn't on the left side?  Also what does it say on the barrel?

ETA:  The roll mark was on the right side for a while I think.  I just found pics of a 66-1 with it on the right and a 66-2 with it on the left.

it says mod 66 serial number with a stamped large S sideways in front.  No S&W logoon it.  Swmith & Wesson on left side of the barrel and S&W .357 magnum on the right

If it says only "Model 66" then it is not a -2. Each dash number was a revision to the original design, with the "no dash" (like yours) being the original, apart from those before model numbers.

I found out it's a 66 no dash that was sent in to Smith & Wesson and had the barrel pinned and cylinder recessed.  Trigger job and polished too.  It must have been a cops gun there is a screw where they installed a lanyard.  It is from '75.  Now I'm trying to determine it value.

A model 66 no dash would have been pinned and recessed from the factory.

ETA––the lanyard attachment thing may or may not hurt the value. 2.5" M66s usually sell in the $500+ range.
