A 'real' Trooper! Very nice revolver! Same as a Python with a bit less hand work and a different barrel. You cannot just put a Python barrel on and have it look the same because of the contour of the front of the frame where it meets the current barrel. I have had a couple over the years and every one was an excellent shooter. Nice Gun! Ignore V_G...he is ignorant but still young, so there is still hope [BEER} |

It's the original Colt Trooper. As above, the same basic gun as a Colt Python, only with an exposed ejector rod and without the more polished and tuned action. The grips alone are bringing in excess of $150.00 on Ebay these days. The Trooper was very popular with Sheriff's departments. The original Trooper was made from 1953 to 1969, with the .357 Magnum version being made from 1961 to 1969. It was also made in .22LR and .38 Special. Yours also has the Target hammer which adds value. Value depends on actual condition, with one in 90% being worth "About" $300 to $350 or so. |

A close option is the massive Colt Trooper Mark III. It was available in .22LR and .22 Magnum with barrels of 4", 6", and 8". The Trooper Mark III uses the same action, cylinder, and frame as the later King Cobra. It's a massive gun, and is certainly the strongest .22 DA revolver ever made. Accuracy and quality are top notch, and they made a LOT more then the reported 2200 original Trooper .22's Colt made. |
