I'm sending the 642-2 in for repair/service but I wondered if anyone might know what's going on.

If you would pull the trigger with the gun horizontally level the thing works fine and the cylinder turns.  If you raise it above level (say, at 45 degrees incline) you get the trigger cycling but the cylinder does not turn and sometimes the trigger sticks.

I removed the side plate and looked inside.  Everything looked good.  I'm not a gunsmith but everything looked in place and I didn't see anything rattling around in there or anything loose.

Any ideas?

Sounds like the hand spring is broken and/or associated parts.

Yep. Either that or the spring is in the wrong position on the pins.

I agree, broken spring or the pin is gone.
