Well I got the .500 Magnum in the 8 inch standrad model.  It belonged to a Marine that was sent to Korea.  He couldn't take it, so he sold it to me for a whopping 350 bucks!  Anyways, it has only been fired 15 times with Magtech 325 gr.  He told me that I could shoot .500 special and .50 AE through it also, it this true?  I have seen about the .500 Special, but not the .50 AE.

Oh I like it.  It is a blast, literaly, to shoot.  I was just wondering if what I was told about the ammo was true.

.50AE is an auto round, i.e. rebated rim, IIRC? I seriously doubt it will work in the .500 due to the shorter OAL.

I've never seen a .500spl rd sold or advertised anywhere.

Corbon sells 500 specials, i've shot up a couple of boxes, it's real nice in the 4" gun,
but 50ae? i don't think so!

Thank for the info guys.  I was pretty sure it sounded wierd about the .50 AE.  And yeah I have seen the .500 Special a lot actually.  It's a bit cheaper to shoot, and I got an e-mail back from S&W that it can be used, but no-go on the .50 AE.

if their were moon clips made for that gun i bet you could fire AE threw her.

Moon clips are made for the .500, but not for shooting .50 AE in one. I wouldn't bother anyway. If you want to shoot the gun in volume, get a .460 and shoot .45 Colt.
