Hate to be one of the dumb people who does not know what you are talking about.  But I am, would you mind an explanation of what CNC etc means?

Not be be a dick but screw Colt! They suck as a company and have screwed us as shooters by their anti public standing. All that aside S&W's quality has always been better and Ruger makes the stronger gun for hotter loads. There are better gun to be had then s***** Colt and that goes for HK too, they can kiss my ass!

CNC means "computer numerically controlled" It is a machining process that hold extreemly tight tolerances. Most guns are made this way now at some point in their construction.

Thanks, for the explanation.  And thanks for your opionion of Colt.  I am grateful for both thoughts.

No Problem! For as little as $55,000 you could buy a nice CNC machine and make your own guns! I used to do a little work on a CNC machine and it was truly amazing what it could do! I made some pretty cool stuff on it. Do a google search for "CNC" and you can see one of the many CNC machines out there and what then can make.

I always differ on the "CNC = Accuracy" statement!

I have been programming for 17 years and we crank out about 12,000 programs a year. Unless the machinist does his part, these programs/machines can produce scrap at a rate you can't believe!

Now state or art machining centers have the ability to conduct QC measuring and adjust themselves for tool wear while running! These type machines are indeed capable of producing high quality at all times. But these are 1/2 to over 1 million dollar machines.

The CNC machinery is capable of very close tolerances, however the people who run them are not or do not care. I would expect another "Improvement" from the advertising dept.

I am with you you!  The CNC process is amazing BUT if it is NOT used in conjustion with proper Q.C. and Statistical Process Control of the process then it can be rendered nearly WORTHLESS.

One of the reasons I buy Colt, especially more recent stuff, if that Colt is actually a BONA FIDE manufacturer.  The folks at Colt know what SPC is, they KNOW how Q.C. functions in a manufacturing environment.....they have a metrology department, they have quality auditors, the actually have some sort of histogramical process that TRACKS the parameters of parts as they are sampled per lot or even per piece!!!

With the exception of the other big makers like Ruger, Smith and Wesson, Winchester, Remington and so forth YOU WILL NOT find this with other manufacturers.  From what I understand ( so take this for what it is worth ) the ONLY small manufacturer who uses anything resembling a Quality Control Process is Armalite.

I can somewhat agree however I seem to Rember Smith & Wesson and smart guns and political deals and ect.........  Would they sell out again if the atmosphere was the same.

I hope not. I would not buy S&W when they sold out to Clinton! Sence S&W has been rebuilt from the ground up with new owners and management I have hope for them and have started to buy their products again.

Hopefully S&W learned their lesson the first time.  They are largely a commercial enterprise now (not really that many governmental stuff) they probably felt a hit after the Klinton thing.  I know a lot of peope were really burnt up on that, myself included.  I am also in the Pee on HK department.  Pee on Kolt.  I give S&W a hand for finially seeing the light, sorta.
