I bought this gun on impulse and actually regretted it for a few days, but it has really grown on me. It is a beautiful piece, and the trigger is very very good. The single action has zero creep and I can't feel any overtravel. It has a true glass rod feel. I am not a bullseye shooter or expert shot by any means, but I know a good trigger and this gun has one.

The double action is very smooth - I've never felt a super awesome double action revolver trigger, but it is definitely the best one I've ever shot. Absolutely no rough spots, not a lot of stacking, no funky weight changes.

The fit and finish of the gun is excellent. The trigger has a nicely rounded face, and all edges are softened. The cylinder is a little tapered towards the front which is a nice touch. The big fiber optic front sight is excellent for close range, self-defense applications.

All I wanted to get was a dependable magnum revolver to carry in my sling pack while fly fishing in bear country, but I am really glad I spent the extra money and got the Match Champion. If this gun is on your list, I do not think you will be disappointed.

Also - if you want to buy one, make sure the trigger is excellent - I wonder whether the QC is perfect for each one, as these are not custom guns.

Finally - I did find it greatly comforting while fishing to have a gun suitable for black bear, even when in sight of the road.

The last few years GP100's have been fantastic out of the box.  I have a GP100 WC and it has probably the best trigger I've felt on a factory revolver.  The only one better is the SW 19-5 with probably 20k+ rounds through it.

Personally, I think it has a lot to do with the new hammers they are doing.  Probably better tolerances when formed and just needing a quick polish.  Could also be new gunsmithing staff.  I sent a SP101 WC back for a new hammer and it came back with all the internals polished and the surfaces of the new hammer were stoned to a mirror finish.

YMMV though.

I agree, the Ruger triggers are much improved.

Yuppers, all my Ruger's have had very good triggers.  I got to handle a Match Champion once, it had great balance although I prefer a full lug.  I'd like to shoot one, I bet it's a sweet shooter.
