I also could not resist ---- one of mine was formerly carried by an enthusiast and was cut for moon clips http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb285/streetstar707/396_zps74ac907c.jpg Cut for moon clips is really something I would not expect! The top one of yours with the Hogues is pre - MIM apparently. One of our guns has the front sight carefully highlighted in red, it is the 64-5 which shows much more careful handling and general care. I got in on the deal a little late but still got decent guns. |

Unfortunately they are sold out now. We should start a red alert deal thread. I bought mine last Tuesday --- then they had maybe 12 left --- i drove down from Oklahoma to pick through them ---- i figured, if it was just one project gun i probably wouldnt bother , but since i was considering a handful , then that was a different price bracket The gun with the moon conversion was so dirty i didnt notice it at first ---- when i got them in at my FFL , i took them immediately to the range to give em a whirl and troubleshoot them if needed --- the range officer was checking them out and pointed it out to me ---- but i did notice that the sights had been whited out -- which to me meant the former user was trying to tighten up his game a bit at least The gun with the Hogues in my pics is a square butt --- it may be my "project gun" -- i'd like to install a normal hammer/trigger and some nicer S*W factory target style grips Hogues always have a place in the gun drawer , and may make it on my 66, as i shoot a lot of full zoot 357 out of it, but i'd like to find something prettier for it |

Ours were bought Sunday, September 21st and we were also promised to get better guns. The one that shows neglect and scratches, had a weird clicking noise when the cylinder stop came back up and tincanny sound when it locked. Some cleaning and oiling took care of it.
All guns checked out fine and the worst one will be the project gun for my youngest son; to work on the trigger pull, checking if the hammer boss is good, paying attention to the rebound slide and the cylinder stop. Jerry Kuhnhausen's shop manual is an essential must read for any S&W enthusiast and a helpful reference for anyone who wants to understand those fine guns. Dad is handing responsibility over to the next generation, not just a couple of guns |
| My gun fund ran dry, but this post in GD has contact info for a vendor with $225 S&W Model 10 trade-ins. |
