I'd start at $650 -- and if your patient , put it on GB with a $600 reserve --- I'd entertain $500 private party on that thing as a shooter , -- but thats me --- If you dont need the money super fast, try the GB route and hold firm on the price
I'm a Colt enthusiast myself and will say i hope you get max dollars for it ---- this will enhance the value of mine too |

I just sold mine on gunbroker for $464.00 it wasn't scratched like that one. I got rid of the factory grips
awhile ago and replaced them with pachmayer grips. There are people asking CRAZY money for them don't be that guy. Edit-- I'm not implying anyone on ar15.com would do that. |

I would -- i'd sit on it until it sells with a $500 reserve or until suitable trade material comes along --- the lightweight Colts are nice even by modern standards due to the inclusion of the 6th hole -- and quite a bit lighter than a Det Special
I liquidated some stuff on Armslist over the winter --- some stuff i sold cheap early on in the heat of the minute, - it was exciting to be moving some merchandise and freeing up some cash -- but after a while , it got old having turds try to haggle me to death on everything --- ultimately, i finally told a couple of people (in a respectful manner) that if that was all they had to spend , perhaps they should go buy something off the rack at Academy or Dicks |

The Cobras don't get the same money that Dec Specials do. In that condition I wouldn't go over $400. $650 is an insane price. I've seen minty DS's for less than that. For some reason i thought they were more Then there is the Agent and the Commando --- i'd love to have a Cobra like the OP's for a carry gun -- i'm sure +P's are a no-no, but i bet a guy could find a .38 SD load that would be the equal for a typical .380 or something -- took my Sig 238 (a rather pricey 380) out of my pocket at the range figuring i'd make sure i was still "on" with it -- it went "BANG" then CLICK. Not that a revolver is maintenance free or anything, but this malady would not have occurred with my Det Special |

Not that a revolver is maintenance free or anything, but this malady would not have occurred with my Det Special Limited +P is no problem. My every day companion for the last 20+ years is an Agent. For the last several years I have loaded it with Buffalo Bore 158gr LSWCHP +P. Over the years I have carried it loaded with everything from the current load to Remington Multi-Ball loads. It has never failed to fire, ever. Nor has any of my other various Colt revolvers, with the exception of a Trooper MkIII .22lr/.22mag convertible(came with two cylinders and is the only one I have ever seen) with something way north of 50,000 rounds down the pipe, which finally decided not to advance the cylinder occasionally. I would buy another as new Agent, Cobra, Dick Special, or Commando on sight as long as the price is not stupid. The OP's gun would make a fine carry/beater as is or could be refinished, and if he sells in the recommended $450 neighborhood would make you a good gun. |
